06 Jul 17 UTC Very well played Germany - that was an impressively aggressive and fast victory.
07 Jul 17 UTC Thanks Joe. This is german point of view of the game:
--> In the beginning I wanted peace in french border and positioned agasint Swe, but F moved well into Ruh (perhaps as a defensive move, but insteat it worked), what made me postpone this attack on Swe and focus on regaining Ruh and then, naturally, into Bur once I had 3 armies looking to it; this setback to my early growth was in fact the best thing possible for my later development, as it alowed E and R face a reasonable enemy on eachother only, not worrying about G.
--> Then, I read ER positions form what i saw from russian Swe only - and I guessed everything right and I slid into it at the same time I entered Bur (Autumn 1903). Next, it was a succession of right choiceds made:
--> the move agasint Warsaw (1904), the two suports to english move from Ska to NTH (S'04 & S'05), the rearranging of my units in Skandinavia (A'05), the conquest of Mos and NTH (S'06) followed by StP, Nwy and Lon (A'06).
--> At this point it was clear I had a shot on solo, as no one could realize how big I was, perhaps but France, who saw my move to Eng and then to Iri, and maybe T, who saw my Mos support to the north, but I was clearly making it in the shadows;
--> thus I found a perfct ally in Italy, suporting him into Mar when I saw him doing Pie-Mar. I did not wanted to betray Italy, after we did so well reading eachother intentions (Mar, Gas, Bud), I know I could have soloed without having taken Vie from him, but why postpone the unavoidable?
--> It is interesting to review the game and find that my natural growth to Swe would have been stopped by E/R if I had not had the reversal or check in progress of my early plans by France in Ruh, what in fact gave me the essential Bur position, which I kept solid until S'08 (when i opened the french front suddenly with Bur, Pic, Eng, Iri and NAO all at the same time). Thus my correct move was going to Bur, not to Swe, and F preemptive defense on Ruh allowed me to correct this.
07 Jul 17 UTC Thanks for that. It is really interesting looking at how FOG games develop afterwards. Considering your limited intel as it was a FOG game you did make your decisive moves at the perfect time so respect for that.
07 Jul 17 UTC Congratulations Germany. I was disappointed to see Italy was handing it to Germany on the east. Of course, i could understand the hostile sentiments towards me (having taken Trieste and Venice the turn before) - italy at least could know who was closest to a solo. I was pretty certain it was a done deal after having taken Venice and Trieste (knowing Germany was still a larger empire gave me enough insight to know I was never going to be able to contest him).
07 Jul 17 UTC I can see why you think that. From my perspective, France was attacking me the entire game. Again from my perspective, that meant Germany couldn't have been so close to a solo. Also, England could have been at 10. I had no idea he was almost dead. You (Turkey) attempted to take Vienna in S08 and took Naples in A08, so if you were that concerned about Germany and getting me on board, why were you still going for my centers, even with Germany in Moscow, Ukraine, and Gal? I obviously couldn't see what you saw, yet you were still moving your fleets west and attacking me. The first time you put up any sign of peace was your support hold in S09 and the game ended in A09. And you were still moving fleets west for whatever reason.

As long as you and France were attacking me, I was fine with seeing someone else solo and having us all go down instead of me being eliminated. I thought it was heading for a 3 way draw without me.

That all being said, you played a good game and we both caught some bad luck with how well Germany did in the north.
07 Jul 17 UTC I dont have much to say,Just scroll back in the years to see my struggle all game XD gg Germany!
07 Jul 17 UTC Sorry Russia - I ruined your game and mine!
07 Jul 17 UTC No need for apologies its part of the game!
07 Jul 17 UTC Just to be clear, mapu - no hard feelings towards you. After all it's a FoW gunboat. I can also imagine that a continously aggressive France could give you the idea that France was in a steady position up north.

I should've not tried to rush into Vienna perhaps, then again - that was also the turn that you supported Germany into Budapest. So it wouldn't have made a big difference in the end ;-)
08 Jul 17 UTC Fair enough -- good game to all!
08 Jul 17 UTC Adding my two cents.
I thought on allowing england survive a bit just for the confusion of Italy and Turkey (and even France).
In Fall'08 I covered Edi with Lvp, what allowed english survival if he did not move to Edi himself.
It was an intentional risk!
I also thought on Lvp hold and allow him into Edi (if that was his choice), but this would include a guessing game for his next moves which could end up with him in Nth/Nwg and this was a risk i would not take.
