23 Nov 17 UTC damn! I thought 22 sc, more than 50%, should be enough, but unfortunately not.
Impossible to get one more.
Well played!
24 Nov 17 UTC good game guys! It became clear quite soon that my best shot was trying to get into a draw, considering my non-stop clash with Voluntii. Unfortunately he decided to take his campaign south ;-)
24 Nov 17 UTC Good game. Thank you for playing.
24 Nov 17 UTC Good game - yet more proof for me that it stinks being in the middle in a gunboat game.
24 Nov 17 UTC Good game
It's not being in the middle, but how many are attaching you at once.
24 Nov 17 UTC No being in the middle is rough, unless all those in the middle recognize the advantage those on the edge have and act accordingly. That didn't happen here. Cornovil gave Durotiges way too much freedom early and both Volunti and Caledoni ignored Picts early too. If you allow the edge players to engage in a one front war while everyone else is dealing with two or more fronts, they will do what they did here.
24 Nov 17 UTC I "ignored" Picts? Please. I'll be ignoring you, slypups.
24 Nov 17 UTC Well Voluntii definitely did ;-)
24 Nov 17 UTC Dr. Recommended - I guess that characterization isn't quite fair. You did give Picts a fair bit of attention and it was more Strider (Volunti) who ignored him, although I have to say allowing a Picts fleet into NOH was pretty devastating to you, and by the time you finally got a fleet into NOG, Picts had already locked down the three available SCs in the north. Basically, you committed to a strategy to getting a single SC in Damnonii (which I was challenging for, admittedly) and giving up 3 SCs to your northern neighbor who, unlike me, didn't have anyone pushing him on the other side. I'm not sure if that was the best call.
24 Nov 17 UTC I agree with you, corner powers have advantage in a gunboat game, even more when fighting in the center.
