Public Press - Fog of War
Has anyone tried this? I've only player a couple games of Fog and enjoyed it a lot (and did quite well!) But a thread over on webdip about public press theory made me think that this would be an interesting way to play this variant. One of the big things about the variant is that people (in outer powers, e.g. Russia and France) can sneak up and solo when others don't even realize that an endgame is at hand. Interesting complexities would arise when absolutely any statement you make can be seen and responded to by your neighbors who can probably see substantial parts of your layout. Of course... allies may choose to help you obfuscate things. Since there is no backchannel by which such lies can be arranged, it would take quick on the feet of parties really paying attention, and things sent in public that make statements about what is true can be a secret communication channel with people when you both know that a statement is false, but perhaps can point that person to a desired conclusion.
Anyway... if you wish to try it:

gameID=32415It's unfortunate that I'm outing myself in an anonymous game, but I did want to explain the idea here, and at least which power I play won't be revealed.
