One of them for me would be Cherrapunji in India:

I have heaps of other places I would like to visit, but would like to hear about where people here would like to go as well.

I've seen you play several times, fasces. You are you're own biggest admirer. I've seen you run your mouth with nothing to back it up, and then be proven 100% incorrect. I've also seen you appointed as a moderator here, and *attempt* to do good things. It appeared that you were maturing, and learning in spite of your weaknesses. However, that time was short-lived, and you was tempted by the allure of other pursuits, chiefly this fixation with being a bad boy. We're looking at at guy who rose rather above his station to a position of respect and prominence, and then failed to live up to that responsibility. You resigned as a moderator here, and ran off to another site, where you got yourself banned (for whatever reasons). That's your present legacy here. You're not Ned Stark. Not even close, and your understanding of the situations in the books/series is clearly flawed.

Ned did not betray Robert at all. Your suggestion that he did belies your ignorance of the topic. Robert was murdered before Ned could warn him of the truth. Ned died because honor drove his choices more than wisdom. He dies because he wished to do so honorably more than to live otherwise.

I get it. you don't like your assignment. Slynt isn't the most respectable character to be tagged with, but he's not a complete boob either. Frankly it was a compliment to you to give you Slynt, albeit a backhanded one.

Furthermore if you disagree with my self appointment, and think that I'm Jon Snow, that's fine. However, once again you prove your ignorance of the book. Jon Snow knows plenty, and even the smokin' hot redhead he's banging admits this even as she chides him. I don't rate myself as Jon Snow. I'm Sandor Cleagane for the reasons I gave. Take Cypeg's advice, and just have fun with it. Everyone else did.

My first memory of Fasces was when I first joined the site over two years ago, I joined that 1 on 1 tourney (and got my ass kicked by everyone). One of my opponents was Fasces. He made a poor opening and told me he made a mistake and could we restart. Since he was a mod and I was new, I agreed. But I thought it was kind of lame.

Thanks for proving my point:
"I've seen you run your mouth with nothing to back it up, and then be proven 100% incorrect"
I've never, NEVER claimed to be one of the best players on this site and often admit I'm not. I think you might be confusing me with someone else here.

"I've also seen you appointed as a moderator here, and *attempt* to do good things"
Funny given that I was appointed moderator over a year (May 2011 vs June 2012) before you joined, so I'm not sure how you saw me being appointed. I was later promoted from moderator to admin, so I think it was more than just an attempt to do good things.

"chiefly this fixation with being a bad boy"
Again, confusing me for someone else. I've never wanted to be the 'bad boy'. My main fixation on this site has been about honour and honesty, which has frequently frustrated you in games when I have refused to stab someone regardless of how much it would better my position.

"We're looking at at guy who rose rather above his station to a position of respect and prominence, and then failed to live up to that responsibility. You resigned as a moderator here"
I was a member of the mod/admin team for 33 months, and was promoted to Admin midway through, hardly the evidence of failing to live up to responsibility. I resigned as a moderator due to time constraints. Notice how I played in zero games for the first five months after resigned as moderator.

"ran off to another site, where you got yourself banned (for whatever reasons)."
Didn't run off to another site given that my last game on webdip was a year before I resigned as moderator here. I joined webdiplomacy to participate in the forums political debates and got banned for a forum violation.

"That's your present legacy here."
God I hope not given every single thing you said is factually wrong.

"Ned did not betray Robert at all."
Yes he did, if you remember Robert on his deathbed asked Ned to be regent to Joffrey who would be his successor. Ned changed Robert's will because Ned didn't want to have to tell Robert that Joffrey was illegitimate.

"Ned died because honor drove his choices more than wisdom."
So you can see why I think he represents me, given the number of times I have given up a solo cause I'd rather draw with an ally...

"Slynt isn't the most respectable character"
My feelings have nothing to do with how respectable a character is (the first time around you assigned me as Samwell Tarly cause we were both "carebear, group hug type!"), my feelings have to with the fact that the actions taken by Janos Slynt in the books are exactly the opposite of how I conduct myself on this site. If there was some relation between me and Janos beyond the fact that we were both banished, I wouldn't be complaining.

"My first memory of Fasces was when I first joined the site over two years ago, I joined that 1 on 1 tourney (and got my ass kicked by everyone). One of my opponents was Fasces. He made a poor opening and told me he made a mistake and could we restart."
In Spring 1901 I accidentally bounced myself in Galicia due to a misorder, poor opening is an understatement. I said I was happy to continue but would rather the restart, which as you mentioned, you agreed too.

Fasces, you continue to amaze me with how wrong you can be time after time. Aside from the fact that you've *never* been in a position to solo in any game that I have played in or watched, my frustration with you has been not with your refusal to stab, but rather your asinine devotion to stalemate lines - particularly those that do not exist, and your attempts to get moderators to force games into premature draws because you claim they do. Stalemate lines are for losers even when they do exist. Players that rely upon them are bad to begin with, but those that rely upon stalemate lines that do not exist are a rare breed.

Ned Stark did not betray Robert. Your recollection of the storyline is inaccurate. Joffrey is not Robert's child, and therefore is less entitled to the Iron Throne then Gendry was, regardless of Robert's *alleged* wish that Joffery succeed him. In fact Robert did not think Joffrey fit to rule, and that is why he named Ned "Protector of the Realm", which is the card that Ned attempted to play. Robert was unaware that Joffery was Jamie's son, and would have ordered him murdered from his death bed if he had. Once again your understanding of the plot is pathetically woeful, which is why you as Janos Slynt were ultimately unseated from power and banished to the wall.

Goldfinger is right though. You bitch and wine so much that you're now Lysa Tully.
fasces349 (1007 D)

Regarding the stalemate lines debate: That stalemate line in that game did exist and after a year of no expansion on your front Canada finally caved to you and stabbed.

And Ruffhaus, go read that Roberts death bed scene again, Robert named Joffrey his heir in his will and Eddard changed the will. Regardless of whether that Roberts decision was from bad information, the fact is Eddard lied to Robert on his death bed and went against Roberts wishes.
Well, define "betray", Ruff.

Ned didn't tell Robert about Cersei's incest because he was trying to protect the children from being killed. This, in turn, probably got Robert killed. Almost certainly, in fact, because it was after Ned told Cersei about his plan that Cersei set her plans to kill Robert in motion. If the boar hadn't done the work for her, something else would have.
Sendric (2060 D)

Actually, goldfinger, that's not quite right. Eddard didn't discover the incest until Robert was already out hunting (or at least hadn't yet confirmed it). It was while Robert was out hunting that Eddard approached Cersei, and she admitted it. He then told her that he would tell Robert upon his return. Right after that is when Robert returned with the mortal wound from the boar, which was precipitated by a plan Cersei (or others of the Lannister clan) had hatched (drugging Robert while out hunting).

As for going against Robert's wishes regarding Joffrey taking the throne, that is technically true. However, Eddard and Robert were friends for a long time. It's not a stretch to imagine that Eddard understood how Robert would have felt had he known Joffrey wasn't actually his child. He may have betrayed Robert by the letter of the law, but in spirit he most certainly did not.
I was of the understanding that Cersei sent a messenger (Lancel) out to the hunting party, with instructions to send everyone else home and kill Robert.
fasces349 (1007 D)
30 Sep 14 UTC
Lancel was Roberts squire he would have been at the hunt already
I think we're both right in a way. Lancel was already there, but Cersei sent him instructions to have the king killed. From the wiki (which is right 99% of the time):

"Acting first, Cersei has Robert's squire, her cousin Lancel Lannister, give Robert a very strong wine, three times as potent as normal, which causes him to become very drunk"

I have to go back to the text and find it exactly, but I am certain that Cersei only had him killed once Ned confronted her.
fasces349 (1007 D)
01 Oct 14 UTC
Oh Cersie told Lancel to do it, nobody disagrees with you there, however the hunt was before Ned confronted her.
Sendric (2060 D)
01 Oct 14 UTC
I didn't recall there being a messenger. I thought that plan was already in motion. It makes more sense that the messenger was sent, though. As much as I like Eddard, he and his wife really screwed up a lot.
RUFFHAUS 8 (2490 D)

The *fact* is that Eddard was going to tell Robert about Joffery, Tommen, and Myrcella before his mortal wounding in the hunting accident. To suggest that he betrayed him by declining to tell him on his death bed is as ignorant as your position on stalemate lines. Ned and Robert were the best of friends. No friend would send his dying best mate off to heaven with such grief. Don't be an idiot. Ned was Hand of the King at the time, and it was his duty to rule the realm in the absence of the king. The king was incapacitated, and unaware of the facts. There's no betrayal here at all. And regardless of whether Robert would have wanted Joffrey to be next in line of succession, his status as a bastard child of incest between Jaime and Cersie removed any claim he might have had on this. Ned served his king and the realm honorably, by backing Stannis. That you fail to comprehend this, specifically what it says about Ned, shows how little you understand the books at all. And nothing in your VDip persona is characteristic of Ned Stark. So STFU and accept you fate on the wall, or take the moon gate. Your choice.

As for the game you refer to, you've proved my point (again). Stalemate lines are for losers. If you're counting on another nation not to stab you to keep you in the game, then you do *not* have a stalemate line. Additionally if you nation serves no purpose in preventing a solo or attempting to achieve one, then you've accomplished nothing, and deserve to be eliminated. That's what happened to you in the game you speak of. Then it happened again in the next game we shared, where you claimed (again) that a stalemate line existed, and demanded a draw be declared. Quite unsurprisingly you were (again) wrong and eliminated, just like Janos Slynt - you play your cards poorly and declare undeserved victories too soon.

Pyrell? Who the hell is Pyrell? Hmmm....maybe spelling counts as things no one wants to listen to.

Does that mean I convince people to open the gates? Am I really the kind of person to let my poisons be pilfered? (well, maybe when it suits me) Am I to be murdered for my competence? After outlasting 5 kings (plus 3 more kind of kings)?

As for the discussion above, Cersei only needed Robert to be wounded. Pycelle would have finished the king off just as he let Jon Arryn die. It has been awhile for me but my memory was that Ned waited for Robert to be gone to confront Cersei to give her the chance to take her children and flee back to the Rock for fear of Robert's rage and history of being OK with killing children. Isn't that the basis of the Jon is his nephew theory? As for the death bed stuff, telling Stannis would seem the more important act and that is what he did. Ned's "betrayal" was more not seizing Cersei and Jaime immediately.

The Lost Art of Reading Orders (feature request)
Because you need to click on a link to see the orders, I feel like players on this and other sites are not paying as close attention to the orders being issued. I know they're being shown graphically, but that can be ambiguous or hard to notice; reading the orders makes you notice things you might not have, like why something is failing or what another country is trying to do, or tell you (for gunboat games).

I'd suggest placing the latest set of orders just below the map.
