[Speed Europa variant] Check Barrents Sea adjacency
In my current game (ID=58131), it says the Barents Sea can move to Serbia (rather than Siberia)

It also lists Norway as an option, though the spaces are not adjacent on the map.

A new Cold War tournament (Nexus CW6)
Hey everybody. It was about time someone organised another cross platform Cold War tournament.

The tournament will be played wherever the players agree to play. Which means vDip will be hosting games. I have made a rule set on discord: https://discord.gg/kKnAuHN6kM - if you do not like discord I will communicate via e-mail. I will post updates here.

Great new variant - Bronze Age Diplomacy
IMHO a really great new variant with many options, constantly fluctuating balances of power, both fleets and armies with power, sensible offboard movement that makes stalemates hard.

This is a good one I think

Yes, I vote for the pub as well. I actually enjoy what the background noise adds -- though I know that different speakers/systems might be reproducing harsher levels for other people. Have only listened to the first 25 mins or so, but my son absolutely loved hearing you mention him and the story I posted on the previous page. He thinks he's famous now, having been mentioned on a "global radio show." Hilarious.

Thanks Ruff, glad I'm bad when I'm sober and even worse drunk. Kaner last episode with his 7.7% beers was plainly making the whole comprehension of Dissolution's rules that little harder :-D

Doc - equally pleased your son has made it global. If you're still at the 25 min mark, spoiler warning we go onto discuss next episode will be recorded in a speak-easy next to a strip joint (then apologise to you for your son hearing that), and then I go onto discuss getting butt-fucked by someone stabbing , and quickly apologising again. We never said this was PG rated, but maybe you need to pre-listen before your teenage son tunes in!

And if any of you are curious about the Dissolution playtest (discussed at length in the podcast), here's the subforum at PlayDip where it's being hosted:

http://www.playdiplomacy.com/forum/viewforum.php?f=804

And here are the rules:

http://www.playdiplomacy.com/forum/viewtopic.php?f=253&t=54793#p892791

Suffice it to say that this variant is a tad bit more complicated than an automated interface will allow, but you all might find it interesting nonetheless.

I loved Kaner's rant about KW901 #3. Although he makes himself out to be a martyr, he presents a pretty good recollection of the events throughout the game. He completely ignores the part about how opportunistic and down right malicious his original stab at Ifriqiya was. No one was 'sending me any love' in that one until the very end when Utom refrained from punking me for a dot. That was why I left him alone once Wagadu was destroyed, and didn't explore my own solo chances. In the end I was happy to see Spain draw in this one, but this being a gunboat game I needed a way to convey my limited contempt for the Spanish theft of Ifriqiya. Kaner did pull off a magnificent bluff by threatening to dump his entire position to Russia. I wasn't seeking that much revenge though, and began to consider that Russia was either Eki or Bozo. I knew that Russia wouldn't solo, but wasn't wanting to risk the sum of squares scoring boost that it would give them. Overall, it was a hilarious and entertaining way to discuss an EOG.

I just spent 2.5 hours of my life I'll never get back listening to two Australians drinking and talking about conquering Europe or the World with tiny plastic armies and gunboats. And it was from last September.....

Wouldn't trade it for anything, and I HIGHLY recommend you give them a listen.

Nice job Amby and Kaner
Drunken Aussies. Does it get any better?

You just need a great white shark to grab him in the last few seconds ;-)
LO!. But I don't think a great white could get that far in to shore. At least not an adult one. Too shallow of water. A tiger shark, however, is quite feasible in 2 foot of water. :-)

Bull sharks too. They're everywhere where Kaner and I live.

And that's not even bringing up the snakes or spiders... or the crocs about 500 kms north of us.

Then there's the bloody sting rays that hit Steve Irwin. Crickey!

Use sunscreen. It stops harmful rays.
I caught a skate (a type of stingray) once when fishing out in the Atlantic just outside of the Chesapeake Bay. That sucker was the toughest thing to bring in. Those fins/bodies of theirs act like suction cups in the sandy bottom of the ocean floor.
Episode 18 of the Diplomacy Games podcast is now live at DiplomacyGames.com. As usual over the next hour or so it should be live on iTunes and Stitcher too.

In the latest episode we open the kimono about webDip, interviewing its co-owner zultar about the process of adding variants, their always entertaining forums and upcoming changes.

For vDip die hards there's stuff in there for you too, with talk about webDip refugees coming to vDip, zultar's favourite vDip variant and discussion on any future vDip-webDip merge. We also talk about the Ancient Med variant. And I send my iPad into meltdown.

Enjoy!

Episode 19 is live on www.DiplomacyGames.com and will be picked up by iTunes and Stitcher in the next couple of hours. This is a back-to-back recording with Ep 18 so Kaner and I (especially me) get a bit drunk.

We discuss new variant ideas, current games and interview Alex Ronke / nopunin10did from PlayDip (creator of the 1812 Overture and Dissolution variants.) Plus Alex shares some exciting news about improvements to the php coding platform that runs the various Dip sites.

So tune in and enjoy!

Also being RUFF we discuss his playing style and thoughts on the Bourse end game.

Hear it at www.diplomacygames.com or download from iTunes or Stitcher.

Versailles is probably one of the best variants available on the PlayDiplomacy site. It has some flaws, like any variant, but the two-country mechanic is loads of fun (especially with other variants mixed in).

After I (finally) get 1900 implemented here, I'm going to try and see if I can get Versailles to work (or at least something like it).

(Bump) Inebriated Australians discussing Diplomacy.  Milestone Episode #20 is hilarious

For the new guys, check out the latest Amby/Kaner podcast on our favorite hobby - worth a listen!

http://diplomacygames.com/

There was actually enough beer,  wine and topics to make it to 20 episodes.   A Christmas miracle!   Or at least a winter miracle in Australia.....
I listened after Friday nite beers, very entertaining. I must admit, I enjoyed the interview with Ruffy, very interesting hearing his take on all things dip.

Hey Ruffy, no Apolyton mention? : )

Hi folks, episode 21 is now live. Kaner & I:

- discuss how to make a variant (bit of a hot topic here at the moment in the forum!)
- introduce a new segment called Online Dip Pet Peeves and talk NMR's (more about Pet Peeves in a seperate forum thread)
- interview Captainmeme
- and talk about Kaner's much loved/maligned variant, Rat Wars

As always grab it at www.DiplomacyGames.com, or subscribe & download from iTunes (https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/diplomacy-games/id1148827717) or if you're an Android person, Stitcher (https://www.stitcher.com/podcast/diplomacy-games)

Replacement(s) needed
Going through an unexpectedly busy period at the moment and can't really pay full attention to all of my games. I don't want to keep spamming extend or pause requests so I was hoping someone could take a couple of gunboat games off my hands. Only solid positions, including one board top. DM if interested!

I would like to report a player in an anonymous game
Hey mod team, I’d like to report a player in an anonymous game. I can’t easily describe what happened so it would be easier if you just looked at the chat logs yourself. Needless to say, they were directly attacking a different player calling them all sorts of slurs.

NMRing first turn
New game and not new missing first turns.
Many players miss their first turn in ALL of their games. They have very good position in the rank, with % of victory/draw higher than their % of survive/defeat ... of course, if they give up their games just the first turn, dissatisfied with the country they will have to play.
In my oppinion all abandoned games should count as DEFEATED. What do you think?
