Game 4) Autumn 1906
Game 5) Spring 1907
Game 6) Spring 1906
Game 7) Autumn 1905

Standings:

1) BobRoss [3.5]

BobRoss, thanks very much for the scoring update. Samj, thanks very much for getting your butt kicked :)
To answer questions about Aberration and Dutch, I'll repost here since it's fallen back a few pages:

2 days/phase
30 bet / WTA
ANON / gunboat / hidden draws

...start times staggered. First two will begin simultaneously, with each subsequent game beginning at approximately two-week intervals, so please only express interest if you can manage that time frame. Entrants will be selected based on a combination of first-come-first-served, history on the site, and ranking.

One of the main interests for the smaller tourneys for me is the difference to playstyle engendered by all the games being simultanous, the turns staying roughly synched up for at least the first few years.

I'd be a lot less interested in Dutch Revolt if we went with that outlined launch schedule (2-2-1) rather than all 5 starting at once, as was my initial assumption.

And First Sengoku finally comes to a close, the last game eclipsing one of the earlier ones in the tourney to become the longest Sengoku game on the site.

Grats to tantrumiser and El Cremoso on their well earnt 8 point tie, an outright win, a 2-way draw and a 4-way draw each. Interestingly, neither ever shared victory with the other.

Game result:
1) tantrumizer [4]
2) Leif_Syverson, El Cremoso, mouse, kaner406 [1 each]
3) Dr. Rec, tantrumizer, Eki83, Samj [1 each]
4) kaner406, tantrumizer [3 each]
5) kaner406, Dr Recommended, Eki83 [1.67 each]
6) El Cremoso [4]
7) El Cremoso, mouse [3 each]
8) Eki83, mouse [3 each]

Standings:
1) Tantrumizer, El Cremoso ------ 8
3) mouse ------ 7
4) kaner406, Eki83 ------ 5.67
6) Dr. Rec ------ 2.67
7) Samj, Leif_Syverson ------ 1

Thanks for updating the scores mouse. I couldn't get a score in the last 4 games at all, so I was lucky to hold on for the joint win. Well done El Cremoso for grinding out those last 3 D. Thanks to Dr R for organising the tournament.

Dr. Rec - thanks for inviting me to play in the tourney. That was a lot of fun.

And well played everyone. There was some really great strategy involved & a lot of twists and turns.

I'd be down for playing Dutch Revolt 5x5, though two points:

1. Firstly I agree with Mouse. Such a variant will probably prove much more interesting if all games take place simultaneously.
2. I am currently 25 D short of the 150 buy in. As i am currently involved in 21 games (what the hell am i even trying to get myself into now), i expect to have the remaining buy-in covered soon.

Wow, that Sengoku game was impressive! Thanks very much to all who have participated in these, I really enjoy them.

mouse, thanks a ton for updating scores. The more this can be a group effort, the better, as it can be tough to keep up with in busy times. To your point regarding all Dutch games at once, I'm all for it. When I set up parameters for once of these map#x# tournaments, I aim for an equilibrium between what I want for parameters and what the rest of the players have wanted in similar tournaments. In other words, what parameters are agreeable enough that I'm willing to play, that also make it worth it for enough other reliable players to fill the roster. So, I think there's always a range to negotiate within.

I would love to play all Dutch games at once, and that makes 3 of us, with BobRoss. Leif, what say you?

As for Aberration, I'm also willing to increase the pace anywhere from initial plan to all at once.

I mainly kept the Sengoku scores updated so I knew what I needed to get out of games to still be in contention, but happy to be of service there anyway :p

In terms of general tourney suggestions, I'd honestly be in favour of knowing which opponent is which through games - keep it anon so you're not going in with any preconceived ideas, but write up a public schedule of the player mapping between games so that you /can/ keep track of actions between games in the tourney itself.
I do understand that's not really in keeping with the stated aims of the tourney, and I'm quite happy to keep playing even after you all resoundingly shout the idea down, but one of the main appeals for repeated games against the same set of people, for me, is the evolution of meta-strategy (and especially in a tournament situation, needing to plan around stuff like needing to ensure specific players do /not/ win in certain games in order to keep your own hopes alive). Bringing it between tourneys (eg. as could be done with non-anon games - and likely would be, even if only subconsciously) is an obvious no-go, but within the confines of a single tourney I'd be quite interested in attempting it.

I'd see no reason why you wouldn't be a valuable addition to the Dutch Revolt roster, though decision making is up to the Modocterater-In-Command - Recommended.

Though you might want to reconsider joining as you will be playing the Dutch Revolt against a proud dutchman. Am not going to take this homegame lightly ;-)
I'll set up games for Dutch early next week. I'm getting ready for a backpacking trip over the weekend.
I keep joining games, so I should probably remove myself from the Aberration list until I have the points to join.

Imbalanced map?
It seems as if several maps need some balancing work. For example, England* v Turkey is skewed toward England, and in Rinascimento, the French are virtually at the hands of other players’ wills.

Hello, I have a problem. I am going away for a few days (tomorrow), and I don't know how to quit the game I am in. There are 36 players, so I cannot reasonably ask for all of them to pause --- besides, there isn't enough time --- so I am stuck.

Playing with fewer players
Hi all!

I know this is probably a noob question, but I need to resolve this issue: is it possible to start a game with fewer players than those normally expected? I tried it once with the Rinascimento variant, but the game didn't launch just because there weren't 12 players.
Thank you in advance!

Question about social norms for players
In a large game, a reliable player asked the mods to extend the game for Easter. The request was general and largely in the name of other player: "Hey guys, it's Easter, and in a big game, some people will probably be traveling to see family." The extension was granted, and requests like that are likely to be accepted.
