Feature Request: Friends List
Similar to how the site already has functionality for muting and blocking other players, we should be able to add them to a friends list so that tracking them down to send PMs is more convenient. It would also make hosting games with players you know you enjoy playing with much easier. I don’t believe that this feature is currently in the issue tracker, and it seems like it would be very easy to implement given the current muting and blocking features already in place.

Variant Tournaments
I've really enjoyed playing variant-specific tournaments such as the Known World 15x15 currently underway.

I hate to be that guy, but I have a vacation coming up over Valentines Day and coverage there is questionable. If I find the WiFi is solid when I get to the cabin in two weeks, I'll join in then, but if not I'd rather not have so many games all running if I have to go into town every day just to do turns (our cabin is 15 miles out in the middle of the woods and hills, but is supposed to have WiFi in it now).
Oh come on, when I was your age I had to walk 150 miles uphill both ways to manually move the game pieces! No worries, just join when you can do so.
Based on my approximation of that being 40 years ago, that means you are about 90. :-)
94.

I know you're older than me by a couple years.
Nope, only 51 as of last month. :-) Old enough to be as old as Star Trek, but not old enough to remember it first run. Old enough, however, to have camped out in line outside the theater to get tickets to Star Wars.

TCHTT, You're just a baby! I'll be 52 in April... I too stood in line for the first "Star Wars".. The first "Friday the 13th" scared me to death... And "It's Alive" was the freakiest movie I ever saw... But "Airplane" made up for it...
Rest of the Sengoku and Fog games I am in have started. Time to shuffle the nation assignments.
Games have been paused and Captain has been notified. Please do not enter orders until cleared to do so.
Mapu (2086 D (B))

Can the shuffling be more random? I've been next to the same players in most games so far...
Hey, I've been stuck in the middle of the map for at least two of the Sengoku unrated games (the two I was forced to throw because of poor play by players who got greedy). I'm looking forward to escaping being caught in the middle.

All the games have now had countries correctly assigned, so you're good to go (in both Sengoku 2 and Fog of War).

@Mapu - I realised after you'd said that that the way I did this does have a tendency to put the same players as neighbours quite often, but unfortunately due to 4 games already passing this combination is now locked in. If there are future tournaments like this, I'll try to find a better way to do it.

So... I just won a Caribbean cruise/resort trip from a work contest . I am going to be out at sea with from Feb 22-27 with little to no wi-fi. Will play turns as i can, but expect it to be sporadic.

Would you recommend i get someone to play my turns as a sub in the existing Sengoku games? or should we push for an extension?

If you think you may miss turns with the current phase length, we can extend those Sengoku games at the right time. That should cover it. Congratulations on your trip, I'm jealous!

No Wi-fi? How barbaric!
El Cremoso (1728 D)
13 Feb 17 UTC
To be fair, i think there mightbe wi-fi, but at a stupidly expensive cost. Like $25 a day.

I am actually excited to be offline. Get away from email and work for a few days.

Meanwhile, feel free to throw out some ideas/interest for the next variant to try.

Depending on the betsize, I'd love to join a Imperial II game, if that's OK with all you fine folks.
This wouldn't be a single game, it's a tournament thread - just FYI. If we do Imperial II, it would be a 13 game commitment, likely in 5-4-4 groupings (5 games to start with, then adding another 4 as those wind down, etc.).

Based on the tournaments underway, the need to run multiple games at once to accomplish this, and because they are all gunboat I strongly prefer unrated. The games tend to be a bloodbath, and unrated games allow you to have fun with them even even hopeless circumstances.
I'm with Ruff. Unrated is preferable. It also allows one to try out a new scenario he or she has never tried before in a cut throat environment with only his or her pride at stake.

Help needed: Our 4 press-types.
Hi everybody.
I'm working on a rules-page about our 4 press-types.
Someone willing to submit some guide what these different press-types are, and what these mean for playing the game?

Imbalanced map?
It seems as if several maps need some balancing work. For example, England* v Turkey is skewed toward England, and in Rinascimento, the French are virtually at the hands of other players’ wills.

Hello, I have a problem
Hello, I have a problem. I am going away for a few days (tomorrow), and I don't know how to quit the game I am in. There are 36 players, so I cannot reasonably ask for all of them to pause --- besides, there isn't enough time --- so I am stuck.

Playing with fewer players
Hi all!

I know this is probably a noob question, but I need to resolve this issue: is it possible to start a game with fewer players than those normally expected? I tried it once with the Rinascimento variant, but the game didn't launch just because there weren't 12 players.
Thank you in advance!

New convoy-code.
Thanks to tobi1 we have a new and improved convoy-code.
This was really a problem for all "big" variants.
Very cool you could solve this problem. I did take a look at your code, but I'm absolutely clueless... :-)

Gunboat specs
If the "Gunboat", "Public Press", or "Per Rulebook" rules are employed, shouldn't the game be automatically "Anon" as well? If it weren't, then players could just PM each other, defeating the purpose.

Question about social norms for players
In a large game, a reliable player asked the mods to extend the game for Easter. The request was general and largely in the name of other player: "Hey guys, it's Easter, and in a big game, some people will probably be traveling to see family." The extension was granted, and requests like that are likely to be accepted.
