23 Jul 13 UTC | I seriously regret I was unable to enter moves as this was the best gunboat game I played to date, but to make a long story short I was unexpectedly had a chance to do some field research in Yunnan province. Unfortunately this meant racing out of Shanghai and booking a last minute series of very slow long distance trains. I would have asked for a pause but I did not expect to have China Mobile not work for me while in transit, as I have little issue connecting in any other part of the country. As a history grad student, this is one of my favorite maps. That said, the Terracotta Warriors were pretty great. Kudos to Strider for surviving my best efforts and to Decima who relentlessly broke through my defenses with a few surprising moves. If you are at all curious, despite the frustrating resolution for all of us, I am working on a short article using this game to discuss gaming and education in East Asian studies. I would be happy to forward the article. |
23 Jul 13 UTC | Well, go on with the article, Prospero, I'm curious. On a side note about gameplay, Sengoku is by definition a WTA game. Surviving in such a game means (almost) nothing. I see you’re quite new to the website and this was your 1st WTA game. If you can spare 15 minutes, I’d suggest you to read this forum discussion about the differences between PPSC and WTA. http://www.vdiplomacy.com/forum.php?threadID=43542 I think you had to put down your Draw vote before than you did. Certainly before than I exceeded you in size. You were in the middle and you had to manage war on 2 opposite fronts, a really hard position to hold. I’m sure that Strider should’ve recognized your desire to stop fighting and seek for a 3 way draw. |
