25 Jun 15 UTC Bidding: Good luck everyone!
13 Jul 15 UTC Autumn, 1548 BC.: GameMaster: Xildur has taken over Byzantinum replacing "Escath". Reconsider your alliances.
13 Jul 15 UTC Autumn, 1548 BC.: Hello all, I welcome all messages shortly.
02 Aug 15 UTC Autumn, 1546 BC.: GameMaster: exp has taken over Rhodes replacing "wooferbird". Reconsider your alliances.
02 Aug 15 UTC Autumn, 1546 BC.: Hi, I'm the new Rhodes. Work together against Sparta? I'll admit that I first tried to ally with him. But he is going to build at Cydonia (just watch), which suggests to me that he is going to move against me. (I accidentally sent this message to Sparta first. Afterwards, I figured I might as well make this a global message since Sparta is so strong that all of the other players will need to work together in order to defeat him)
03 Aug 15 UTC Autumn, 1546 BC.: If anyone is after surviving and therefore getting a better points score than 4 way draw please let me know,
03 Aug 15 UTC Autumn, 1546 BC.: GameMaster: Rhodes voted for a Draw. If everyone votes Draw the game will end and the points are split equally among all the surviving players, regardless of how many supply centers each player has.
04 Aug 15 UTC Spring, 1545 BC.: Since I am new here, you don't have much of a history to evaluate me by. Here is my negotiation with Sparta together with some comments.

Autumn, 1546 BC.
[ first priority: determining whether to fight for or against Sparta. Either way is fine with me. Sparta needs to make a build decision - I can make my decision contingent on Sparta's build decision. ]

Rhodes: Hi, I'm the new Rhodes. I'm guessing that you are building a fleet at Cydonia since Rhodes was MIA.

Sparta: Yep, what do you propose?

Rhodes: How about building an army at Corinth instead? You are clearly at war with Macedonia, as your thwarted advance upon Apollonia shows. Your army at Delphi can advance upon Epirus with support from your nearby fleets, and a column of your armies extending from Thebes to Argos can follow.
Admittedly, a build at Cydonia would make a certain amount of sense due to the congestion to the north, but a build at Cydonia would signal to me that you are my foe and that I must try to organize/join a coalition against you. You are so strong that there's a good chance that you would be able to beat a coalition single-handedly, but it wouldn't be a sure thing. Or, let there be peace between us and let your victory be assured.

Sparta: Last Rhodes started by working with me but stab me so I'm not inclined to trust anyone now, what I will say is if you let my fleets out to go north I will not take any more of your sc and you will survive?

Rhodes: OK, sounds good. Are you still going to build at Cydonia?

Sparta: Yes but support me into SEA of Athens you can then have namos and keep it.

[ If Sparta is not going to take any more of my SCs and I will survive, that sounds pretty good. However, what purpose can there be for a build at Cydonia other than to attack me? Now Sparta is also asking me to support him into the Sea of Athens. I might be able to tolerate the build at Cydonia, but I would need to adopt a defensive stance with my units until we could build more trust. ]

Rhodes: I would find a build at Cydonia to be threatening. That dagger is pointed squarely at me. I'll tell you plainly that I'm not going to support you into the Sea of Athens. If I were seeking to deceive you, I would say that I am going to do it and then submit a different order. I'm being honest with you because I still harbor a hope that we can work together.

Sparta: OK well your your either wth me or against I'm afraid, I made what I consider to be a fair offer

[ Sparta does not address my concern about Cydonia is forcing the issue with regards to the Sea of Athens. He seems to be demanding a lot of trust from me right away. I don't think he is negotiating in good faith. What would you do in this situation? I feel that I have little choice but to fight him. ]

Rhodes: If you are going to uphold it, yes, it is a fair offer. But, a build at Cydonia would give me reason to doubt.
04 Aug 15 UTC Spring, 1545 BC.: Im happy to say what Rhodes has put is a true account, I was willing to co-exist with him (an offer I have also made to the rest of you) but he wanted to dictate my builds, which I wasn't willing to agree too. I could have lied but didn't. Thank you all for your replies, I look forward to working with you.
04 Aug 15 UTC Spring, 1545 BC.: I might have tolerated the build at Cydonia, but then Sparta also asked me to support him into the Sea of Athens. I told him no while expressing the hope that we could still work together. His "your either wth me or against I'm afraid" response didn't seem to leave much room for negotiation.
05 Aug 15 UTC Spring, 1545 BC.: Welcome home, Athens!
05 Aug 15 UTC Spring, 1545 BC.: Support Sparta into the Sea of Athens following a build at Cydonia? This is blasphemy! This is madness!
07 Aug 15 UTC Autumn, 1545 BC.: C'mon, man...
[King Leonidas's voice] Madness...? This is SPARTAAAA!
31 Aug 15 UTC Autumn, 1542 BC.: gg
02 Sep 15 UTC GameMaster: Sparta voted for a Draw. If everyone votes Draw the game will end and the points are split equally among all the surviving players, regardless of how many supply centers each player has.
02 Sep 15 UTC Thanks all.
Good Game
02 Sep 15 UTC Sparta, would you have really honored your proposal ("if you let my fleets out to go north I will not take any more of your sc and you will survive")? I was convinced that you just wanted me to help you into the Sea of Athens and then you were going to stab me - because what else were you going to do with the build at Cydonia other than attack me?
02 Sep 15 UTC Yes I would have honoured it, because I am a man of my word.
