13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (G-Man): Breaking a bit with tradition, there were a few renowned vDip players that just missed getting into a Cloak & Dagger game recently, so I'm going to give them a chance to fill out these remaining spots here before hitting up players from past games.
13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (Bochucl): What is a Cloak and Dagger game ?
13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (tassa): probably something sexually very explicit. i wouldnt ask if i were you
13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (Titus): i guess since i am in means the "renowned vDip players" still haven't shown up.
13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (Titus): whats the best starting power here?
13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (tassa): statistically venice, personally i'd think its turkey or britain
13 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: (G-Man): In the Cloak & Dagger series, we play a different variant every time out, only returning to past variants once in a blue mooon (we've only played Fantasy World, Modern II, and Known World 901 twice). Except for this exception for the last three spots here, players from the most recent games always get 1st crack at the next game, then (active) players from older games in the series, and then (active) players on the vDip Hall of Fame list.

All invitees must have a Reliability Rating of at least 80, and games are always semi-anonymous (we might know who's in the game, but not who they are) and have a 25-point buy-in (fun before points!). Diplomacy and not settling for a draw when there's a reasonable chance to win are also encouraged. Finally, I started the series by using the vDip Hall of Fame list (which was originally just the vDip Points list for a while) as the invite list, so you've got some of the top talent on the site as semi-regulars in the series. So, it's a great forum to test your skills, as well as new strategies, not to mention exploring (reasonable and interesting) new variants when they are created (hopfefully, vDip, Ollie, and the mods will get back to developing and adding new variants regularly again soon).

You can see the list of Cloak & Dagger games and the outcome on my profile page: G-Man (there's specifically a Cloak & Dagger list): http://www.vdiplomacy.com/profile.php?userID=1197 (and if you want details on any game, you can of course go deeper into my game history and click on the game itself).

Good to have new blood, er players, aboard -- welcome!

(Apologies something in my post is truncating the message each time I post.)
14 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: Is it an error that Austria starts with 4 supply centers but only 3 units? Seems very odd.
14 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: I just saw that, makes it a safe bet Silesia gets taken over quickly.
15 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: Any chance this problem can be taken care of?
15 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: Do we know if it is a mistake or just a way to give Austria a little more strength?
15 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: If it's just for more strength then it would be an occupied sc. I don't see where the strength comes from an extra sc without the unit.
15 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: I think its just to make things diplomatically more interesting. And its not like austia has a bad starting position here. And an army in there would make it for prussia and poland almost by default unacceptable to leave it that way
16 May 17 UTC Spring, 1701: The first turn is always so exciting... and terrifying.
