15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Hmm, no purple phoenix option :P
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Is it just me, or just the map not show?
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: There's obviously something wrong with the map display. I'll message the mods
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Thanks!
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Yeah, I have the same problem. I see a zoomed in version of the website which I can interact with which is weird.
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Hey technostar since u r also in the game could u fix this?
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Oli (Moderator): Fixed.
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Let's go, this looks awesome.
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: I can already think of tens of different historical alliances that could work here. Also, if turkey takes Constantinople Russians are obliged to launch a crusade. The reverse holds true for Spanish occupation of Grenada.
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: I'm personally very excited to play a historical variant of this size. The next-largest historical variant, for reference, is Known World 901 (15 players).
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Woof, there's a lot of players with impressive vDip scores in this game. 7 out of 16 players have vDip scores above 1340. Some real heavy hitters
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: And on this variant, there appears to be good balance just from a cursory inspection which is exciting. I guess only the statistics will tell after numerous games played
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: I'd hesitate to call myself a heavy-hitter, a lot of my points are due to always entering orders on time ;) However I do share your enthusiasm for the historical alliances in this variant. Auld alliance would make a lot of sense, as well as Burgundy being potentially decisive in France. West Germany and Low Countries a bit empty though.
15 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: As the developer, I'm really hoping for two things to happen:
1) Reasonable balance - I want all countries to have a chance of doing well and I don't want any countries to have an unreasonably high chance at victory.
2) Solo-able - I'm hoping that it's possible for someone to reach a solo victory on this map.

For Divided States, about 90% of all states have done reasonably well in at least one game, although several states have yet to do particularly well. I also believe that it's possible to solo Divided States given enough early growth, although I know that such a feat is incredibly difficult from personal experience.

In contrast, on this map, the number of SCs per player is significantly higher than Divided States, so few powers should be particularly vulnerable (although I am concerned about Genoa and Venice; while they have more SCs that they can easily snag, they are spread out and will have to work hard to take advantage of this). This map also has a significantly larger ratio of territories to SCs than in Divided States and also allows 2-way draws. I'm hoping that these two factors make a solo victory on this map a more realistic outcome.
16 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: I low key wanna play burgundy just so I can form the Netherlands
16 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: The star power has been diluted a bit
16 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: As long as everyone submits their turns itll be good
16 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: 36 players. I can almost guarantee that people won’t
16 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: Unfortunately, you're probably right and the numbers are against us, but I'm giving a little faith
16 Jun 19 UTC Spring, 1450: I like how the sea tiles are set up.
