23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: I have fond memories of this map. A nation outside of africa would be nice, though. |
23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: I'd prefer to get Quebec so I can practice "mon francais" |
23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: I better not get those fuckin' penguins. Hate them almost as much as bin chickens. |
23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: I don't believe I've played this one before. Have only done World Diplomacy IX a bunch of times. Looks like they nerfed Africa a little bit? |
23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Never played either variant. Excited to do so |
23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Me neither and me too. |
23 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Yeah, at 1st glance it looks like an improvement on IX, which was decent to begin with. We shall see... |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Frozen starting with three fleets and the South Pole right there for the taking, but not available in year 1, sigh. |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Frozen looks like sad times |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: While it was v9, Oz, AKA Frozen, (played by Mapu) in a similar setup made a 4-way draw the first time we played: 16) DOOMSDAY TILT-A-WHIRL FULL-CRUCIFIX ICONOCLASM / WORLD DIPLOMACY IX (bet 25 / 2-day phase): DRAW between Western Canada, Libya, South Africa, and Oz Frozen is also in shot of 3 other neutrals aside from the Pole the 1st year. So, with some negotiation, and no doubt allies, they have a shot. I’ve seen worse positions. |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: 2 other neutrals that is. |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Africa neved? Ghana has the only solo on this map so far. Though, the sample size is not very big. |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: *nerved |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: *nerfed |
24 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: If I remember correctly this map is not build anywhere, which is rather annoying. |
25 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: "not build anywhere" = annoying or challenging? |
25 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: On maps of this size its a huge annoyance. Its a drag to get fleets around the continents. If you are, say, ghana, the northern part of africa can easily be invaded by EU, while you are forced to just station armies in order to block convoys without any possibility to strike back right away. Same with waterways in the south. Australia can easily lock down the waterways. You not only jave to slide the fleets along the coast, you have also to make sure they dont convoy the shit out of you in the meantime. It makes certain frontlines extremely onesided when it comes to offense. Been there done that. Believe me. Its a fun map, but those are serious issues. I had once suggested to designate centers all over the map where everybody could build, without turning it into a complete 'build anywhere'. This would counteract the problems of this map to a good degree while giving it a bit more depth without making it too simple taking away all need to plan where and how to build and whether certain expansion routes are sustainable. But nothing ever came out of it |
25 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: Interesting. I like the concept. Thanks for sharing. Expect to have these remaining two spots filled in the next day or two. Just need to give recent invitees time to respond. |
25 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: So certain build points, similar to Haven? |
25 Jan 20 UTC | Spring, 2101: I have a played a variant where you could declare a certain ratio of your centers build centers. Borger Borhersens Global Supremacy XIV in the 1990ies. |
