18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: (Anonymous): hi guys...
this should be password-protected, maybe someone doesn't know team game actually means something...
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: (Anonymous): I know what it means. My question is if it is Anoymous then how does one get the password? I have wondered that about other games that are set up. Seems no on posts it in the Forum and no way to contact anyone in the game. Seems like password protected games are for private games only.

Now on to some of the important things. Hows the teams split up? or does anyone know yet?
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: (Anonymous): somewhere on forum...
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: (Anonymous): well i imagine the teams would be something similar to the actual world war 2 alliances so japan-germany-italy vs england-usa-china-russia, maybe only 3 of those for fairness?
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: Not exactly, in the forum it is mentioned that russia can chose its side and change whenever it likes...
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: yeah, that's the one, but now, i'm very sorry but i expected it would take way longer to start and i've got a vacation coming, so, sorry but i need a pause till thursday, if you guys want to cancel that's fine with me too, sorry for the trouble...
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: sure we can pause
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: btw, is Russia allowed to attack both sides at the same time?
because on the forum they said he can switch side...
18 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: good question
19 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: Hi all. Pretty sure Russia just gets to choose which alliance it's in. From there it can chop and change. I guess it could go it alone but chances are it'd lose pretty quick.
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: Ok - just reminding everyone when we unpause, here is the deal:

United Kingdom, China and United States are permanently allied ("The Allies") throughout the whole game. No stabbing allowed.

Germany, Italy and Japan are "The Axis" and similarly are together the whole game with no stabbing.

The Soviet Union can have discussions and negotiations with both the Allies and Axis. It can stay independent, but in doing so can be attacked from the beginning by the Allies or the Axis, or both. Alternatively the Soviet Union can choose to ally with the Allies or Axis. This should be done though initially through declaring their intent in Global chat. Note: the Soviet Union though can change allegiance ONCE throughout the game. This can be done deceptively without the need to publicly declare this in global. If the Soviet Union changes side, it cannot change back again (eg start with the Axis, switch to the Allies, and then swap back again to the Axis. It would need to stay with the Allies for the remainder of the game. Of course the same applied vice versa.)

Is this all clear and is everyone in agreement on these principles? If not we should aim to find a replacement player for you during the pause phase.

Can everyone please acknowledge here in global their support for these team rules.

For the record: United Kingdom supports and will follow these rules.
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: I can change sides exactly once, got it. My question in regards to that is about neutrality. Apparently, I can spend periods of time without a set enemy, so can I switch sides to neutral and if so can I later choose an ally?

For instance:

Allies -> Neutral -> Axis
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: i support these rules
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: I support these rules
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: i support these rules :-)
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: Agreed.
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: @Russia - the aim of the game is to replay World War 2 as best as we can within the limitations of Diplomacy. I guess technically being "neutral" shouldn't exist as an option as the USSR immediately allied with Germany to invade Poland in 1939.
20 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: Fair enough, I agree with these rules.
24 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: well, ok, i guess...
24 Feb 12 UTC Spring, 1901: oh, wait, little question left: if i get it right Russia could also just wait for the game to end and draw with the winning team, right?
or can everybody attack him untill he chooses side?
and if someone attacks him, does he automatically join the other side?
oh, and i'm pretty sure i'm right about this one but i ask for sure: if you move into a territory with no SC from someone else, does that mean stab?
so can Italy move to Austria with Ven?
and this is of course very interesting for Russia too...
