Reliability system
I looked over Google but couldn't find any topic explaining the reliability system - can anyone hand out an example, and explain how noobs are handled? Thanks a lot in advance!

The link explains how limits on Rookie games are dealt with, but what about how a final Reliability Rating is achieved? Or, when does a player stops being a Rookie?
CCR (1957 D)

The player stops being a Rookie (for RR purposes) after someting like his hundredth phase (orders received).

How the Reliability Rating is calculated? The cube of the mean of % received moves and % finished games:

> RR = ((noNMR + noCD)/2)^3, where
> noNMR = 100*(phases - NMR)/phases
> noCD = 100*(games - CD)/games

Thanks a ton, both Oli and CCR.

@CCR,

I found a problem with the formula. I am really dumb at math so if I am stupidly wrong I am very sorry!

My RR according to vDip is 97. However...

((98,18 + 100)/2)^3 = ~970299. Where is the 97?

Enriador,

I believe it's simply a technicality of cubing a percentage. Your noNMR and noCD numbers are actually percentages and so is their mean.
(99.18%+100%)/2=99.09%

You're not simply taking the cube of 99.09 as a number, it's:
(99.09/100)^3= ~970299/1000000=97.02/100= ~97%
CCR (1957 D)

Yes, sorry, I meant
> RR = 100*((noNMR + noCD)/2)^3, where
> noNMR = (phases - NMR)/phases
> noCD = (games - CD)/games

@Spartan

Thanks for the clarification! I wonder why the "breakdown" at everyone's profile doesn't include the "100*" before "((noNMR + noCD)/2)^3"...
Enriador (1507 D)

So after all, the formula is truly this one @CCR posted before:

> RR = ((noNMR + noCD)/2)^3 = XXyyyyy..., XX being the final result.
> noNMR = 100*(phases - NMR)/phases
> noCD = 100*(games - CD)/games

The full formula should be in the FAQ!

You don't use your numbers correctly.
Mathematically 98,18% is 0,9818 and 100% is just 1.
So the calculation is: ((0,9818 + 1)/2)^3 = 0,97294768 or 97,29%
As you see the Reliabilityrating has no %. So 0,9729 * 100 ) 97,29 => R97

Win Conditions less than majority
Some of you with a bit more experience at vDip can clue me in here.

How does vDip currently adjudicate when more than one player meets the SC requirement for victory simultaneously? More details below.

Is England* vs Turkey truly balanced?
The stats spread on England* vs Turkey is innocuous enough. England* wins 55% of games which do not end in a draw, Turkey wins 45%. England is favored, but not to the extent that Turkey can't win; the game is not balanced, but it also isn't drastically skewed either way.

However, I have recently encountered an opening from England that I'm struggling to counter as Turkey.

Force drawn games
Games with fixed end year are (for ranking purposes) treated like solo victories for the power with the largest SC tally (even when PPSC scoring is used). Is that intentional? Not that I think it matters much to me, but I do find it rather odd, it would seem like the more logical approach would be that they are treated as force drawn, or possibly use affect ranking differently depending on scoring system used.

Early game vs. End game
Every game of Diplomacy has two distinct phases, which mix a bit in the middle: the early game and the end game, each of them with a very different vibe and atmosphere.

How are Points Per Supply Center calculated?
Hello guys;

I searched the forum but did not find any information on the formula used at PPSC games. If anyone can come up with an example using the formula as well I would thank you very much.
