@LexLuthor- it will be on ER since we didn't get enough for the 50 states. basically, you will be assigned a team. the goal is to be the last team standing. while you may work with other teams, there is no "oh lets just be the final 2 teams and draw. the only draw allowed is for 1 team to be the last team standing, unless there is a 100% genuine stalemate line that cannot be broken.

Err... I'd be in for a DS team game. Anyway last experience showed -me- this rules format is not what I'm looking for in a team game. I advocate or a combined team SC sum.of majority. I'm out and I state i don't want to make a point to hinder your soon game start

Similar... I’m in for a DS game, but not terribly interested in ER

@butterhead do you think it might make more sense to play until one team has a majority of the remaining centers? I feel like otherwise the clean up while you finish off the other teams might get a bit tedious

Also, are the teams public or secret?

Teams will be public. And I would be willing to say a team only has to control like, 80% or something like that? I don't want it to be too low because that is too easy, but I'm fine with not making it the entire board as well.

I'm in the group of preferring DS over ER.

I don't mind between ER and DS. They're both amazing maps. I think we should maybe at least try for DS if we can.

Another option is to use a much smaller map such 'A Modern Europe'.

Alliances could be designated at the beginning of the game :

1/ POR + SPA + FR + IT
2/ UK + IRL + SWE + FIN
3/ GER + HOL + TCH + POL
4/ RUS + LIT + UKR + GEO
5/ TUR + GRE + SER + RUM

In designating countries before, it can played 'no press' and allies must fing how to coordinate without messaging.

After the ER game, I'm happy to wait a while if it means we can play on DS.

So right now we're short 3 players for ER and 14 players for DS?

@Butterhead I would definitely advocate lowering the threshold. When a team controls like 60% of SCs, the only realistic way to prevent them from taking the rest is either a stalemate. As a result, the game either never finishes or the ending is just or formality. For perspective, 60% SCs on ER is 185 units, which is a 62 unit lead over all the other teams comined.

The only thing raising the SC threshold does is it creates a bunch of tedious clean up and it increases the likelihood that one of the minority team manages to find a stalemate position and hold it, which is especially a concern given that a lot of ER games have ended in stalemates in the past.

Either map is fine with me.
