18 Dec 12 UTC Bidding: Greetings to all! Who knows wht keeping a coin entails?
18 Dec 12 UTC Bidding: Hello, good luck all! I also wonder what the benefits of keeping a coin are.
18 Dec 12 UTC Bidding: I think you use coins to buy SC's and then the game starts after that so I don't think there is a benifit
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: Well, I guess the "sabotage main enemy" betting strategy doesn't work too well...guess I'll have to be boring and bet on 4 different centers I know I can take next time.
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: That's the spirit! Join me in the spirit of 5 SC strats - the only way this game was meant to be played.=)
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: meh, it could work under different circumstances, say, Persia taking out Byzantium, cause Rhodes can't take over all of his supply centers on land so he can't get backstabbed as hard (or if you just had someone who decided not to backstab you unlike me).
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: And it's hard to say who you're main enemy is going to be in the game imho. You have 2 people to deal with always and taking into account game theory, everyone would naturally want to ally with one and focus the other. so it boils to down to a bit of guessing, a lot of luck, and even mroe talking.
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: Persia taking out rhodes via sabotage could work but he'd have to coordinate with Byzantium and bring him in the loop. Otherwise he'd have a pretty easy time sweeping two weakened enemies with a 5 build. And Rhodes may not be able to take all my SCs but it would certainly cripple me. Not eliminated but definitely kills my chances of winning.
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: Correction Persia taking out Byzantium via sabotage sorry. haha. Never got the hanf of these names.
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: Very interesting ideas, I'll have to try them out sometime. It would seem that the best country for sabotage would be Persia (land centers secured from fleets) and the country weakest to sabotage would be Sparta, because you can double bet on Olympia and Messenia and support yourself in first turn.
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: And I suppose Persia shares that support self in on first turn distinction.
22 Dec 12 UTC Autumn, 1549 BC.: I'm of the opinion Sparta/Athens would be best suited in an alliance rather than trying to off each other right away. their close proximity leaves the war between them a bloody affair...
25 Dec 12 UTC Nice game to all! And Merry Christmas Guys!
26 Dec 12 UTC lol, I've managed to hold out this entire time, with two far stronger powers surrounding me, and only lost 1 center! :D
26 Dec 12 UTC Nice job! ^^

I owe winning to you, Athens, more than anything else. You kept the two largest threats to me busy while I positioned for an excellent stab position.
