18 May 11 UTC | Spring, 1065: Yay Normans! So. What opening are we trying to test here? |
18 May 11 UTC | Spring, 1065: This is the third time in a row that I have ended up with the bloody English. I want to see an all out English-Norman war take place, as I want to try a new strategy. So lets act like a legit gunboat. |
19 May 11 UTC | Spring, 1065: Sure. |
19 May 11 UTC | Spring, 1065: Good an all out Norman-English war is what I need to test out my theory after this game we should make another test to try my other idea |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: Now on the topic of strategies, I just want to say both games where I was Norway involved me taking York the first year. What I don't understand is why most Norwegian players would rather SH GLD then take a sc for themselves. However as a result I have never vacated York in the opening year, encase a viking tries one on me... |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: I actually have found taking York to be a bad distraction for Norway in my last game I was Norway England left York open so I took it, all it did was set me back and put Normandy into a better position although I eventually won the day. |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: yeah, both times I did it I was in a superior position to Normandy, but decided to draw as it was part of an original agreement (I am honorable that way) However I disagree with your point. Given that England has 2 armies and 2 navies, they will (if being attacked from both sides) have to send their navies on Normandy no matter what. You will still face 2 armies, but you will have the added bonus of an additional build in the opening year... |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: Another thing ive noticed is that as Normandy I can invade England more effectively then England can invade me, namely losing one center while taking London and Winchester early on and then being able to retake my mainland loss. Any thoughts on the matter? |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: Agree, given that England, as said earlier, has a split position, its normally 2 units vs 3/4 in the south early on giving Normandy a HUGE advantage... |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: and then it becomes a Norwegian dominated north versus a Norman dominated south |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: which, normally ends up with a Nowegian victory if he controls Scottland, York and GLD... |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: yup, which is why we are testing it, hopefully in the next test I will draw England |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: I have moderator powers that allow me to switch who plays who, if in the next one all players agree that we should switch their countries around, then I can make it that way. |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1065: ok that would be great and heres some examples of Norwegian dominance http://vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=1115#gamePanel http://vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=1162#gamePanel |
19 May 11 UTC | Spring, 1066: In the second one I probably would have tried to control to whole map, given that you were 2 sc away... |
19 May 11 UTC | Spring, 1066: I thought about it I think Roxart took every single space once |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1066: Come on finalize :D |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1066: Eh who's the non-finalizer? Name and shame! |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1066: The Vikings are ready to pillage!!!! |
19 May 11 UTC | Autumn, 1066: Procrastinating Englishmen...sigh |
