28 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: (Captainmeme): Howdy! |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: (Ezio): hello! I couldn't figure out how to make it start when the game was full. |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: (Captainmeme): Live games default to this setting - I don't think there's a way to change that, it's to stop players who joined a bit before the start being caught out and not getting orders in on time when it does start. Usually 'Live' 1v1s have a 1 day phase with both players agreeing to ready up ASAP, but it's nice to have normal live games too, especially if you want to make sure both players keep to the time limit :) |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: (Captainmeme): Oh, and welcome to vDip! |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Spring, 1901: (Ezio): Oh, that makes sense. I'll be sure to ready up when I have my orders done:) |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1904: is this game also first to 18 wins? |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1904: Yep! |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1905: oh no! I forgot to move berlin |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1905: Ouch, that's pretty rough =/ |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1905: Wow, that Budapest/Vienna fight :D |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Autumn, 1905: Yea :) |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Good game! |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Good game! Very well played :) |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Do you play many 1v1's? |
28 Sep 16 UTC | I used to play a fair few. They're a great way to practice tactics and lategame stalemate positions :) |
28 Sep 16 UTC | As I look at the stats, it seems like Germany has a huge advantage in this map. I should have checked that before starting the game. Sorry about that. |
28 Sep 16 UTC | It really doesn't, it's just that Italy's a pretty hard nation to play. At a high level this variant is considered one of the most balanced - I know a fair few of the 1v1 champions on here consider Italy to have a slight advantage. |
28 Sep 16 UTC | oh really? What makes Italy so hard to play vs Germany? |
28 Sep 16 UTC | I think my main mistakes were going to Ank instead of Bla and Bel instead of supporting the move to MAO in A06. You played that turn very well. |
28 Sep 16 UTC | Italy's just a hard nation for newer players to pick up, because of the army bottleneck in the north (Pie/Ven). A lot of players overinvest in Fleets as Italy when in reality you only want two or three for most of the game - armies are a lot more useful, it's just a case of working out how to get them out and about. |
