10 Aug 17 UTC Well done Bob. I really thought I was going to win until about 1906-7 when I realized you were going to take Tun and StP before me, and there really wasn't anything I could do about it. Well played.
10 Aug 17 UTC Thanks, d-ice!

Whilst I am very satisfied with this solo, i'm also sorry to see such a great Austrian attempt go to waste ;-)

I arguably made my most important move already in my first year by making the dirty move to roll into Munich while Germany takes Belgium. Whilst most definitely an unholdable position, it allowed me to retreat into Tyrolia (where I have stayed for quite a long time). I then simply put Tyrolia on attacking Munich each phase, mostly to give Italy and Austria the feeling i wasn't getting anywhere in my campaign against Germany. When I figured that Austria was the 2nd largest empire I decided to drop in some support for venice as well. (the return support to Vienna was appreciated, but was absolutely not interested in taking Vienna - tantrumizer ;-) )

Lastly, YCHTT not trying to save his main isle was enough reason for me to know he had a solid position in Scandinavia, hoping to sit out the game in peace (or trying to get a naval unit back to his main sc's eventually). First of all it made it extremely easy to reinforce myself against Germany, it also meant i knew that Russia was probably not faring well and eastern powers would probably not worry to me as they could see the Brit in scandinavia.

All in all, many events that worked in my favour. Great game guys ;-)

Apologies for ruining the opportunity for this tournament to be as exciting as the last one. (i believe that the first 6 games all had a different winner then?)
10 Aug 17 UTC Well, I knew we were close to the end, but figured it was Austria in the prime position. I got stuck with an army in Syria and was desperately wishing for Turkey to destroy it!
10 Aug 17 UTC Good game all.
10 Aug 17 UTC Well played!
10 Aug 17 UTC Gratz Bob. Thanks for the zero SC survive. :-) I actually expected a three way draw as I didn't know how bad off Tantrumizer was.
10 Aug 17 UTC I actually tried to protect you in Moscow as a little thank you (knowing I was going to have the victory after this phase). I you hadn't tried to strike St.Peters you would've had a beautiful Pink Moscow on your name haha.
10 Aug 17 UTC No, he wouldn't. I cut the support knowing you'd have no better alternative than supporting Mos H. I did consider just holding everything though since I knew it was game over anyway.
10 Aug 17 UTC Ahh true, completely overlooked the cut support from Livonia. YCHTT, you were doomed to survive without SC's - but hey, you survived.
10 Aug 17 UTC Thanks... I think... :-)
10 Aug 17 UTC Congratulations.
10 Aug 17 UTC Congrats Bob, and well-played by d-ice as well. Without knowing how big Austria really was, and no way to know if France or any other non-Austria/Italy nation was nearing a solo, it was hard to simply disband your army, tantrumizer. I had to hold my centers as best I could, and after your attack on me (I loathe the Lepanto, might as well just remove Italy and Turkey from the board in most cases) I didn't feel too bad about leaving you stuck with a useless army in Syria while you were taken out. It was maybe the only petty victory I had remaining.
10 Aug 17 UTC I was kinda hoping Austria would support hold me a few turns earlier. I guess he really didn't realize just how big France had gotten.
