29 Jul 18 UTC Well done Denmark. Hungary - did I not warn you that this is exactly what would happen if you kept trying to push south?
29 Jul 18 UTC Congratulations to the King of the Danes, worthy conqueror of early 13th century Europe!

Now that this has been my first 1201 game, I feel confirmed in my estimation that Rus is really terribly off. F Novgorod is of no help to A Kiev, and A Kiev can only reinforce F Novgorod by sacrificing any hope of first year builds. Denmark is pretty much compelled to take out Novgorod as F Novgorod has no early target but Denmark, and at that point Hungary can dogpile Rus as well from the other side. There is a strong compelling for Denmark and Hungary to work together early to eliminate Rus, but as Denmark and Hungary can't hurt each other, Rus has very little leverage to talk Den/Hun into acting any differently.

Theoretically England, HRE could tackle Denmark to convince them otherwise, as could HRE, Papacy and Byzantium with Hungary - but they have already their plate full with other strong relationships, and Rus has nothing to directly offer them either but a quaint 1-unit-offensive on either Denmark or Hungary.

Rus, Denmark, Hungary (and also the other powers mentioned), can you confirm my impression?
29 Jul 18 UTC I think this map is fun. Maybe a little bit too less SC is in, but that is why is special. I think Rus had a chance, I just betrayed him, and I made an all-in against him. HRE helped me out, so I would able to defeat him. Later I made so much mistake at the south, so I just couldnt win and I also made a mistake with Byzantyne's diplomacy.
At the end of the game I would be able to make some steps against Denmark, but I didnt want to betray him, he was very forward with me, and I think he would already win it another way because in the best case I could only take 1-2 SC from him. It was just not worth it.
I think this is a balanced map, and it was a good game. But you have right with Rus, he has the worse starting position. Maybe Denmark is the best starting position. My only problem is that the Ayyabuyid-Byzanthine conflict just cant be avoided as the French-English conflict as we could see it in this game. Maybe the Castille-Almoravid conflict is also a little bit fixed. But maybe they are able to avoid it if Castille gets more SC.
That is it. Thank you for the game guys. The funny thing that I am actually Hungarian so it was funny that it drawn it to me and I think that if I compare to the 13th Hungary's map, I was succesful :D
30 Jul 18 UTC I agree that it is too tough for rus
30 Jul 18 UTC And I really felt that I had no choice but to fight the byzantines
30 Jul 18 UTC Yeah, it's kind of hard not to fight Almohad from Castille's position.
30 Jul 18 UTC Ya. I figured our fight was inevitable. I tried swaying you a different way at the start to see if we could have a different outcome but your position against me makes that a kot less appealing.
30 Jul 18 UTC Im just surprised i held out to the end to be honest
30 Jul 18 UTC NOV should be an army as having a fleet is too limiting and makes RUS very hard to play IMO.
HUN thanks for the loyal support, even if it was one-way with me actively helping you in return for you leaving me alone.
30 Jul 18 UTC I'm not quite sure why the Papacy gave up on me and went with the doomed-to-fail HRE, it just let the Danes sweep in. Well deserved victory Joe.
