07 Aug 19 UTC | Congrats to the United States, even if this game was a bit disappointing. I intentionally left Britain alone so that he had a chance against the US, but then he basically surrendered and tried to find a spot to sit out the game, attacking me. At this point I was already committed to an attack against Texas, who seemed to be stronger than Mexico, who was more passive (and even attacked me in Yucatan later on - what was the point of that?). I don't think there was a realistic chance to stop the solo win of the US after Britain fled, as this would have required an immediate cooperation of me and Texas, who at that point had no reason to trust me. I therefore spent the remaining turns trying to eliminate Britain, as I don't think he deserved to survive, given he basically gave the game to the US without any real fight and hampering others. |
07 Aug 19 UTC | Thanks for the game. It was quite frustrating beginning, as Britain and I was banging our heads to each other’s wall. I got lucky to get a break and then it was quite easy as Britain and Spain basically fled from the fight. |
07 Aug 19 UTC | At a certain point, due to USA gains in the south, I had absolutely zero chance of holding back USA. I had a choice, take one for the “team”. None of whom had helped me at all, or try to find a corner to hold a position and maybe support other players to prevent a solo. I couldn’t care less about survive/lose. It’s the same thing. I was happy to work with others to try to find a stalemate but clearly Mexico and I were on different pages. I certainly didn’t feel I needed to let myself die to stop a USA solo for the benefit of others. So it goes |
07 Aug 19 UTC | My point being my actions were 100% self interest and rational. Not vindictive or “throwing the game” by any means. |
