at least it leaves room for maneuvering, it seems that the map favours england rather than turkey.

I'm tending to agree. I thought of a change -- start Turkey's fleet in the Black Sea. Same flexibility as Ankara in terms of going to the Mediterranean, but the convoy lanes are open right off the bat, same as England's.
