26 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: GameMaster: Please remember that negotiations before the game begins are not allowed. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): Welcome to the first ever playtest of 1908! The variant is 99.99% ready and totally stable, but who knows when a typo or misplaced connection might appear. The unit icons are not final, we will have unique ones in the release version! I will be observing the game closely and daily, so don't think twice about sending me a PM about any issues you detect or for an emergency extension if you think you will miss the phase. We can also discuss balance and tweaks on the fly, and feedback at the end of the game is greatly appreciated. As shown under the game title, the game ends when someone grabs 18 SCs or after 10 in-game years. For more details about the rules, check: https://vdiplomacy.com/variants.php?variantID=125 Have fun! |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Bonatogether): :D |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (souper_man): Good luck! |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (D-Mish): Bonatogether, didn't we play 1900 a few months back? I was the obnoxious Italy who spent 5 years ranting in global chat ;) |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Bonatogether): Oh yeah, I remember that one. No one listened to you though! |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (D-Mish): Yep, that Western Triple absolutely wrecked me. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): Ha, I think observed your game! I didn't look at the chat so the whole map action confused me. "Why aren't they doing anything about the Triple?!", I thought. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (Bonatogether): England and France were too trusting early on and then couldn't stop the solo from happening. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): Germany is hard to stop in 1900... every five games that end in victory, one is won by Germany (~20%, average should be ~14%). I hope Germany is still ahead of the pack but more under control now that it cannot just bully its way into Belgium or storm Russia with two armies at once. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: (D-Mish): Yeah, I like adding Ruhr back in. Also I'm very happy you eliminated the whole "Spain has three coasts" thing. It just felt ugly. With Bay of Biscay, there might even be a reason to use Spain's north coast now! |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Info: This is a choose your country game. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Rule Clarification: Does Munich connect to Switzerland? Does Tyrolia connect to Swabia? Both? Neither? |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Big map says Munich does connect to Switzerland, and Tyrolia and Swabia do not. I would change the small map to make this more obvious. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): Germany is correct. Munich borders Switzerland; Tyrol does not border Swabia. I made a "Square Map" that I hope should prove helpful: https://vdiplomacy.com/variants/Europe1908/1908%20-%20Squared%20Map.png We also have some newcomers to vDiplomacy here; know that you can have a bigger version of the map by clicking "Big map" just above your list of orders. You can hit "Interactive map" to use the map itself to input orders, or use the dropdown menu. |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Sorry I'm so late everyone. It's my first game on vDip. Have fun everyone! |
27 Aug 20 UTC | Spring, 1908: Lets have a fun game everyone! |
28 Aug 20 UTC | Autumn, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): Good, nothing explored yet. *Nods approvingly* |
28 Aug 20 UTC | Autumn, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): I meant "exploded". You never know. |
30 Aug 20 UTC | Autumn, 1908: Enriador (Gamedirector): For some reason the fleet in ION doesn't show the convoy arrow in the small map (but does in the big map). Weird. |
