06 Oct 21 UTC Nice game everyone. First, many thanks to China, great alliance - it makes all the difference if people can stick together no matter what. And I see Austria and Italy had the same (unfortunately ;-). I so wanted to break through into Africa but, italy: very well played, you got me at every attempt.
06 Oct 21 UTC Looks like only 3 of us in here from the previous “3” version of this variant. Definitely prefer higher win condition and WTA. VanZ clearly you have a talent for this variant ;-)
06 Oct 21 UTC Yes great game!

Thanks for the compliment India! I was worried most of the time I couldn’t hold the line. Especially when I lost my hold on the Arabian Peninsula. But luckily for me I could bring in extra troops just in time.

And Austria thanks for being such a great ally! We didn’t really had to struggle in guessing each other’s moves. But it was great to blindly trust our borders were save. I think we could’ve beat Britain also. But that would be a long and boring proces for the rest of the players. :P

06 Oct 21 UTC GG! I'm glad our alliance lasted all the way til the end Italy. It was good that we had that. And I'm glad you held in the Gulf of Aden area because if India had gotten through there would have been a good chance they also start pushing on me. Anyways, China why did you keep attacking Moscow so much? Like there really wasn't much point and we would both have been better to just keep it peaceful
06 Oct 21 UTC I was quite confused Austria, would be interested to hear your logic given I did nothing to provoke you at all and you had a much easier path through Italy's SCs than mine, especially the several Italy had left open.... You could have had a real chance at a solo.

Completely understand Italy jostling after Switzerland, and Britain no worries about eating me up to get that draw place though it looks like a few NMRs towards the end.

No problem with you taking me out Britain, as you may have seen I was practically trying to ensure no Austrian solo.
The map is generally set up for Indian or Austrian solos provided they survive the first few years.

Yes I echo back at you India, at one point I thought you might stab but glad to see it not happen, I was cautious with what was happening on the west and knew us fighting would be a bit pointless and open up their eastward march.
Sorry Austria, it was really only because it tied up some units and I thought you would stab Italy at some point to try to get to a solo (although the target would always be tough). Britain also kept giving me the support though :)
I really don't like this map after only one play! It has too many stalemate lines.

Yes Italy I was in trouble at the end mostly of my own design with missing turns, you could have scored a couple more SCs but with difficulty and an even more drawn out game. Apologies everyone for NMRing twice.
I too was hoping for an Austria-Italy war until the endgame when I thought it would be fatal for all of us. Italy you had nerves of steel especially when I broke into the Med for a short while. Well done on out-foxing me the entire game. My game was pretty much just defend from about the third year!

07 Oct 21 UTC Sorry Germany, I allied with Italy pretty early and when you two started fighting I decided to help Italy out and then things just continued from there. I will admit I thought a number of times about stabbing Italy, and it was mainly between "Italy could be pretty easily knocked out, and there's a chance it could let me go for a solo" vs "We've been allies this whole game I'd rather not ruin it and attacking them would just cause England and India to be able to surround me more and be able to attack me easier before I am close to a solo".
07 Oct 21 UTC Thanks Austria, the only part of that I'd contest is that I thought you could make significant headway against Italy without jeopardising your other fronts - particularly at the point you voted draw. I do appreciate the explanation!
07 Oct 21 UTC I think Austria attacking Italy could have opened up vulnerability. Baghdad would go (it was mine and you stole it!! Well… it was turkeys then mine). And then maybe some fleets heading thru Suez. Not to mention off board spaces to west med. maybe… (I really wanted pay back for Baghdad even more than attacking Italy ;-)
