Spring, 901: Japan wasn't part of the known world? |

Spring, 901: To the Europeans I guess not |

Spring, 901: If the map is meant to be Eurocentric then where is Iceland? |

Spring, 901: Where’s Java? |

Spring, 901: I don't think the map is the most accurate it could be. But it seems fun |

Spring, 901: Balance > Lore IMHO |

Spring, 901: I played this map a long time ago and liked it. |

Spring, 901: I will post the game's URL in other games so as to start this. |

Spring, 901: What, I just properly looked at the map and does it mean to tell me that Japan is represented by that one tiny island of 'Saikaido'? |

Spring, 901: The clue is in the name of the game... |
14 Aug 21 UTC |
Spring, 901: I know the significance of that. |

Spring, 901: By the statistics of this variant, we all know it's not really balanced though (but it's still fun of course). |

Spring, 901: Its a pretty good game and fairly balanced. I've seen most powers do well in one game or another... some are harder but as always it comes down to which players do better diplomacy work from the beginning. |

Spring, 901: What specifically helps to make a game balanced? |
14 Aug 21 UTC |
Spring, 901: In my opinion the map makes a dip game balanced or not. Mainly, how many easy centers a country has. Easy meaning how many can they grab in the first year without being contested for them. However, the great equalizer in all dip games is...you guessed it...diplomacy. |

Spring, 901: The problem is that no map is truly balanced unless it is perfectly symmetrical, but doing so, makes the game loose all its diplomacy, because every one has the same strenght and weakness, making relationships totally casual and unpredictable |

Spring, 901: Wich would be like playing risk whiteout risk, or settlers of catan whiteout settlers or catan |
14 Aug 21 UTC |
Spring, 901: Perfectly balanced and perfectly symmetrical are not the same thing. The key is every power having different strengths and weaknesses, but comparable. There are maps out there where some powers have more weaknesses than others, and that's just stupid |
14 Aug 21 UTC |
Spring, 901: The classic map is a good example of this. Every power is different from each other, but they are all pretty well balanced (except maybe Italy?) |

Spring, 901: Austria actually is also pretty weak as well |
