26 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1860: Heyo!
26 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1860: To confirm, there is no fleet/army transformation possible o nthis map, correct?
26 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1860: I think that’s correct. Other than being able to choose what kind of unit you start with in your port centers, there is no transforming a fleet into an army or vice versa once it’s been built.
26 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1860: Nice build choices.
26 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1860: Haha same to you! We both like fleets
26 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1860: Feels like the start of a chess game.
27 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1861: Lol
27 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1861: There's only so many opening moves possible!
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1861: ooh! Nice maneuver!
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1861: ah, build at home only. whoops.
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1861: Yeah, don’t worry, it’ll start getting quite complex as more units appear.
27 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1862: I’m on Pacific Time (GMT-8). You?
27 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1862: East coast US time. I think that’s 3 hours earlier than you?
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1862: Yep
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1862: Hm! It seems that centers isn’t so much of a problem early on, but rather build spots…
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1862: Right! You're catching on quick... It's an idea I employ in any DIP game where you can only build in home centers. You attack someone while they are growing elsewhere, and by forcing them to occupy their own home centers in order to defend them, be rendered unable to build new units.

Meanwhile, I have other units maneuvering to gain advantage on the enemy's home defensive position -- which now being fixed in place and only largely (or even totally) un-reinforceable, can be broken down and conquered...
27 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1863: Yeah…
27 Sep 21 UTC Spring, 1863: Of course, we're a long ways from that happening in this session. And now that you have observed and understood it, you can defend against it (or maybe counter-attack in an unexpected direction?). But you can see the concept being applied.
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1863: Yeah. The map I was trained on (by BBQSauce123321) was duo, where the home centers are nice and far away from each other
27 Sep 21 UTC Autumn, 1863: lol! It can be a bit unsettling the first time playing a gam like this when the map is new and you're used to playing on crowded boards. This variant sure was for me.
