19 May 12 UTC | Spring, 1901: (Evansevern): So if I've got this right, people are essentially speculating on how well countries will do in this game. Sounds cool. |
20 May 12 UTC | Spring, 1901: Greetings, everyone. I wanted to start it, but I'm not going to be able to handle press until later. |
20 May 12 UTC | Spring, 1901: (kaner406): Currencies currently stand at: Austrian Crowns: $1 English Pounds: $1 French Francs: $1 German Marks: $1 Italian Lire: $1 Russian Roubles: $1 Turkish Piastres: $1 |
20 May 12 UTC | Spring, 1901: Has anyone even invested yet? |
20 May 12 UTC | Spring, 1901: (kaner406): (I've received 2 sets of orders so far) |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: (kaner406): Autumn 1901 currency values: Austrian Crowns: $0.66 English Pounds: $0.94 French Francs: $1.07 German Marks: $0.75 Italian Lire: $0.71 Russian Roubles: $0.76 Turkish Piastres: $1.42 |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: That's some pretty heavy investments on the Porte |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Indeed, seems everyone has faith in France and Turkey. |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: And the crown dropped BEFORE I took trieste :( (I wanted to see the impact of the stock taking Trieste would do) |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: haha Austria will be worthless by 1901. lolz. |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Its still got another 65 cents to drop :P |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: ok, but it dropped 35 cents in Spring, by fall it will be down to 30... I think that is pretty worthless don't you :P |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: The Mark was underinvested in my opinion lol |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: I think my risky move to Trieste didn't help Austria's case... I do have a question for Kaner though on this topic, (should probably post it in the thread as well). I know there is a $500 cap on sales, does the same cap apply for purchases? Like in theory, could I sell 500 of every other currency (pocketed $2825 in this case) in buy 4281 of Austria (aka use all my money), my sale would raise the crown by 42 cents. I could then slowly sell off Austria, and repeat always buying as much as possible in the lowest valued currency while selling 500 (max sale) of everything else. This would be an incredibly easy way of turning money, and this one investment example I gave would give me $1800 of unrealized gains (since it takes 4 years to sell Austria off) but increases the number of stocks I have by 1200. |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Hopefully this will foreshadow Turkey's long lasting success... |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: I am shocked by the cynacism of the markets. But clearly they are very aware of my lack of ability. |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: And did they know that Italy would stab me on the first move? |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: (kaner406): A minor error: Turkish Piastres is actually trading at: $1.37 |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: LIES! |
22 May 12 UTC | Autumn, 1901: Who on earth invested in France? |
