21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Greetings good people, we of the Heartland extend our mitten of friendship to you all.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Hola Amigoes and gringoes! If you seek tacos, cheap labor or friendship, The people of Mexico are here to help! Also - I'd like to introdice you all to kumpsage, (aka Steve), MexicanMarla (that's her real name) and stncldjedi (my brutha frummanotha mutha)
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Hello friends! I reach out to you from the bottom corner of the map. I know that I am far from most of you, but I hope to build valuable alliances once I get closer to civilization up north.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Hello fellow Americans! We of the Post Apocalyptic Gang Nation are excited to meet you. If you see us driving by in one of our armored hum vees, just flag us down so we can introduce ourselves.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Please come visit New York, our water is delicious.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Ours, too.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: Everyone should read the special variant rules: http://www.variantbank.org/results/rules/e/empire4.htm

Important snippets:
- Armies can cross those things that look like rivers and fleets can go up and down the territories adjacent.
- Canals (fleets can enter and exit any side adjacent to water): Panama, Ontario, Michigan, Upper Peninsula, Chicago
- Special Canal: NYC to NYS
- Units can move between Ungava and Nunavut. This does not block movement between Hudson Bay and the Sea of Labrador.
- Units can move between Michigan and the Upper Peninsula. This does not block movement between Lake Michigan and Lake Huron.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: I wonder if any of you folks north of the Rio Grande need to hire some help? We don't ask for much in return - just a land grant.
21 Mar 11 UTC Spring, 1999: For those who may be wondering, envelopes next to a country's name mean they have sent you a message. Click the name of the country to read it. You can also click a country's name to send them a message. A dot next to a country's name means they are, or have been recently, online.
21 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: Protip: You only capture neutral or enemy supply centers if you end the Fall phase with a unit occupying the territory the supply center is in. For example, if I were to move my unit out of Massachusetts without moving another unit in, I will not capture the territory. NYC remains in my control, however, since I have already captured it.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: Protip: You cannot have 2 units directly change places (such as the failed Quebec - Montreal Move). You can send A -> B, B -> C, C -> A but you cannot do A -> B, B -> A.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: Jon's point is valid, but in the Quebec - Montreal situation, Montreal was set to hold and Quebec was set to move there. Only one army can occupy a territory at a time.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: Ah. I just looked at the little map, not the orders.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: Someone warn Quebec!! They are going to run out of time!
The "english" from Toronto will roll over them and destroy their unique and distinctive culture. Tabarnac!
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: So are the new players hooked yet (aside from MIA Quebec)? I smile to myself when I see that everyone is checking every few hours... or more.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: Yes, it is good to see others dragged down to our level.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: I hate the game, I am just here because I was told there would be punch and pie.
22 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: wait... there WON'T be punch and pie? I'm out.
23 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: As a newcomer, I'm getting surprisingly into it, yeah :) When I played before it was always with my friend Chuck who was very intense, and all I remember is being confused a lot and losing. Chuck's a politician now btw.
23 Mar 11 UTC Autumn, 1999: So right now all we can do on this turn is build--is that correct? I just wanna make sure before I hit "Ready"
