Ah, I wish it were reversed then, as I like England on this variant.
The main thing to remember with England is that you need armies to conquer the continent. Sometimes it's good to max out at 5 or so just to make sure you get some armies on the ground too.

Yeah, but I just kept moving, then realizing that I'd have to build a navy to convoy, then moving those navies again.
