Extending the advanced options for game creation?
Hi,
what do you think about making some variant-specific features like BuildAnywhere, Pick your Countries or Fog of War a general option for every game?

Capture Your Capital
I once saw someone refer to a modern map game whereby everyone was given a target on the other side of the map that they had to get to and hold. Does anyone know how this was set up (e.g. which did each country have to aim for?) and would anyone be interested in trying to set a game of it up?

A Capitalist Plan for a Capitalist Country: Sbyvonomics
I for one am sick and tired of “moderate” and “compassionate conservative” politicians. None of these individuals are willing to make the tough choices necessary for getting America out of the hole. However, I’d like to make a few suggestions in order to stir the pot a bit. Here are five steps the federal government can take to fix the economic situation in the United States right now:

sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
1) Eliminate all federal taxes, including, but not limited to, those on income and corporations. Replace with a tariff system on foreign imports.

2) Eliminate all federal subsidies, including, but not limited to, those to corporations, as well as, Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, Welfare, and Food stamps.

3) Eliminate the bureaucracies, including, but not limited to, the NSA, and the TSA.

4) Control inflation by putting a moratorium on printing money. This will cause the value of the Dollar to skyrocket, making everyone wealthier immediately.

5) Cut $2 Trillion in government spending. This can be achieved through the things mentioned above, and by eliminating things like the National Parks and other ridiculous public works projects. End all pork barrel spending.

Sounds like you are advocating some sort of modified mercantile system.

This sort of topic seems more suited to WebDip than here. You'll probably get more interest if you post it there instead.

kaner @No, its just Ultra-Capitalism

@captainmeme: I know, but there are too many libtards over there.

Surely you would want liberals to debate your idea? If everyone agrees with you, there's not a great point in opening it up to debate...
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
I don't mind liberals debating me. I just hate to explain the facts of life to libTARDS. These people don't know what they are talking about, while educated liberals sometimes do.
kaner406 (2088 D Mod (B))
10 Nov 13 UTC
This is not hypercapitalism - if you advocating placing tariffs (that I presume are monitored by your soon to be abolished bureaucracy) then it sounds to me like you are borrowing the worst from a Lassaiz Faire approach and combining it with a bit of good ol' fashioned imperial mercantilism.
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
In exchange for abolishing taxes. That way the American people do not hold the tax burden, and are allowed to prosper. Foreigners will have to pay a small tariff, but without a corporate tax it is still a net gain for them.

You made this thread a few months ago on webdip, and I already said why you are wrong.
General Cool (978 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
So how do you want the government to function without taxes? Also, are you in the 1% in this country? If not, I don't understand how you could support an idea like this.

BTW, the economy isn't the only thing important in our country.
kaner406 (2088 D Mod (B))
10 Nov 13 UTC
You can't abolish all bureaucracies. Surely you will need to increase the amount of prisons, and increase police powers and numbers, because of all those unfortunates who you seem to have no compassion for will still need to eat, and what choice would they have otherwise but to resort to crime?
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
It would function with tariffs, and without entitlements and other unnecessary spending.

Define 1%

I know, but this is an economic plan, my social plan is a bit different.
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
@kaner: They could, perhaps, get a job. Even if we did have to expand our prison system, it wouldn't really matter all that much.
Scordatura (1396 D)

Your idea sounds like some sort of neo-luddite, primitivist, ultra-libertarian, whack-job proposition. Nothing would function. Our country would just devolve into an anarchy. (I don't know, maybe that's something you want?)

Your idea is very radical, and I don't think anyone in our government would even listen to this.
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
1. The Luddites were knuckleheads
2. Primitivist is a broad term
3. I'm not libertarian. Their social positions are ridiculous
4. It functioned 1789-1901
5. There was no anarchy during that time.

sbyvl wouldn't care if the country went to wreck... he's living safely in an enclosed neighbourhood with private security to protect him from all of those evil, dirty and lazy undesirables. He sees nothing wrong with increasing prisons because those types of people deserve to be in jail if they are not making money. In fact the soviet system of forced labour camps seems to be an appropriate solution to the issue of unemployment in America.
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
There shouldn't be forced labor, but if these people do not work, they should not expect to eat.
kaner406 (2088 D Mod (B))
10 Nov 13 UTC
Because according to sbyvl's logic - it worked well in the past, that entire period gulag in Russian history certainly helped to stabalise the country whilst it modernised.
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
What I am saying is if we could recreate the economic conditions of the 19th Century, we could implement this. Just get rid of the Socialist New Deal, Fair Deal, Square Deal, Great Society, etc.
kaner406 (2088 D Mod (B))
10 Nov 13 UTC
*if they don't work, they don't eat*

Sound pretty damned forced to me buddy.
kaner406 (2088 D Mod (B))

YES! Let's return to a period of imperial overeach! Sounds like a wonderful plan to me... if only we could somehow return to the past everything will be like living in candyland again, milk and honey will flow from fountains and the world will be grand.... tra le lalalala.
Scordatura (1396 D)

Ok, that plan may have worked in the past, but whether or not you like it, we live in a globalized era. A country cannot simply isolate itself from the rest of the world (except North Korea) in this day and age (much less a country like the US). That policy worked when the US was newly created and needed protection while it built up an international reputation.

Honey, no matter how big and scary the rest of the world may seem, hiding from it won't solve your/our problems :)
caliburdeath (1013 D)

Isolationism is inefficiency. Prisons are inefficiency. Starvation is inefficiency (of labor).
sbyvl36 (1009 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
It is not necessarily isolationist, just protectionist. There is a difference.
General Cool (978 D)
10 Nov 13 UTC
What do you think other countries are going to do? They are going to raise tariffs of their own on our exports, so it is isolationist. We won't be making money from super high tariffs.

Bounce question
I really should know this, but thought I'd double check.

Let's say I have an SC that I want to build in. I move a unit out.I then send 2 units to both "attack" that SC. Now let's say one of my opponents attack the SC too, but support it. Now a straight 2 vs 2 results in a bounce, but what about a 2 vs 1 vs 1?

Support Rules and Dislodgings
I'm guessing you guys play by strange rules. I've never seen this not happen outside of here: One, if a force gets dislodged, the move cuts supports/convoys. Two, to cut a support/convoy, it has to get moved towards. The supporting or convoying unit doesn't have to actually get dislodged.

Is Norway Undervalued in 1066?
Something I notice when playing 1066 (v2) is that England and Normandy always do battle, and Norway usually has a lot of leeway to mop things up. I guess the larger size of the North Sea spaces give the illusion that Norway is farther away, but in reality, it's just two spaces away just like Normandy.

You guys could really use some sort of test to license people to play games in. It's annoying when irrational players ruin the game for rational players by allowing third players to win after overrunning them.
