Anyone else having trouble with the interactive map?
When I click on a unit of mine, no buttons show up. I haven't been doing any messing around in the settings for a long time, and my orders are not readied. Anyone else? Help?

Nuclear strike option
In several Diplomacy game variants we have the Nuclear strike rule which allows any player to destroy any (or only foe's - I don't remember exactly) unit once in a game.

Where is kaner?
We have had to Extend a game because kaner never showed up after joining. Brisbanites might want to check to see whether he may be trapped under a refrigerator as a result of a cookie jar related accident. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oQe0OWZvwWo

Have you ever teach people to play Diplomacy?
My 8-year-old son knows that I play Diplomacy and sometimes even watches the situation progress in my games, but only today I registered him and explaine the rules of the game. He plays chess well, so I think there will be no problems with that.

Tournament: Cold War II
Welcome to the sequel to 2018’s Cold War tournament. Has it really been two years? Let’s get started.

Like if they both beat each other as NATO whoever won the fastest should go ahead.
Alright. A player that concedes will lose one point, while the victors in that scenario gain the standard three points for a win.

@umbletheheep: Consider this scenario.
A beats B 20-7
B beats A 17-10

In this case, A should progress. It’s similar to soccer’s goal differential, which is the first tiebreaker for teams tied on points. However, we should consider ALL of a player’s group games in this, due to common opponents. Fastest victory was made a later tiebreaker on purpose, as it’s less representative of a player’s skill than the goal differential concept.

Well personally, I would think a 17 center win in 1964 is better than a 19 center win in 1967. Efficient quick wins are more representative of skill than whatever center count you end on in my opinion. I'm cool with whatever though.
Just dont concede lol
And I agree with Umble. The longer it takes, the more likely one side is to get more points, but goes to show that the other side can defend well against them. Losing in a matter of a few years shows weakness more imo
In all my games in Cold War, the least skilled players are either the most predictable or the least logical ones, sealing off their fate almost as soon as the battle starts. My fastest win is 01, which were against my friends. Aside from that, it's always 02.

Meanwhile, the longer the match, the more it shows how close the skill of both players are, even if the side never swings and remains towards one player. Goes to show how well the seemingly losing side is at defending themselves with limited units, or shows how bad the winning side is at closing games out
Just an opinion

Thanks for changing the extra point about concessions.

I also think that how long it took to win is a better measure than supply center count. My favorit tiebreaker is to play an extra game with random countries. In case of a tie in that one game you let the player who got the statistically weaker power move on.

That said, there isn't really a good measure for tiebreakers. It's always a problem. At sme point you just have to decide on the rules and play.

Fastest victory for example is also flawed with concedes...
That is true. I guess that's where the +1 bonus comes in handy, I'd think
Fastest victory, as stated previously, does not include concedes.
So... No earlier than 7 am cdt?
Correct. I said the tournament would start today. There are 13 hours left in today by CDT. I am waiting until the 2:00 PM CDT deadline I set for players to have a say in rated/unrated and phase lengths.
Let us begin. . .

You may create the games and start. Remember that you play one game as NATO and one as USSR. You have 48 hours (until Sunday at 2:00 PM CDT) to create the games. PM your opponent with links and the password. PM me the links as well, please.

GROUP ARAGORN (Unrated, 36 hour phases)

All games are underway other than Sky Hopper vs. Superwerty.

SH and SW, you have at most 48 hours to start your games. Otherwise you will both receive -1 point for each of those games.

just check if your opponent is ok with it.
They were supposed to be unrated. If SW is okay with rated games, then it’s fine. If not, your deadline to start those games is extended by 24 more hours.

Live messaging Diplomacy
Hello everyone, I would like to play a standard game of diplomacy, but exchange social network accounts of one network all players are in (preferentially Signal, but fb does the job as well) in order to be able to have Live communication and if wished, even calls. Could make things more immersive. 1 ½ days per phase. Anyone interested?

Now that flash is dead, that statistics page is missing the graphs. Is the something in the works to get this fixed?

(it also just makes getting to the page difficult, as Vdip keeps asking for flash, and you have to say no multiple times before you can access the page)
