Necromancer: a Lord of the Rings variant

This is a pretty interesting variant, where many of the factions have special powers. Anybody interested in playing? We have two players and a GM, need 6 more.

I want to play a game

There are lots here whom I've enjoyed playing with (and hopefully vice versa). Anyone - old or new - up for a game? I don't have any preferences except WTA and 36 hr phases.

And yet a mod posted an completely non-dip related topic today about Irish independence. So the mods have carte blanche to post non-dip stuff but the regular community is actively discouraged from it even having threads locked.

Discouraged does not mean forbidden. As Ruff already mentioned, most players here just don't wish to engage in off-topic threads. To cite kaner:"It's immature name-calling and basic nitwittery that is frowned upon here.". His thread was neither immature nor nitwittery...

And whoever does not wish to see a off-topic thread (e.g. the last to reply wins) can just mute it, they don't appear too often.

One man's off topic nitwittery is another man's interesting conversation. I've no problem saying "keep it dip and site business focused" because to decide that "nitwittery" is not allowed, well then who judges the value of the post? One man's nitwittery is another's interesting topic. Now name calling should be out. That is what you want and I agree 100%. Of course the occasional light jab (like being able to tell God to go get bent, even if it isn't actually Him) is one thing, but yeah, in general, name calling is not a good idea. But we are hijacking this thread so I'm stopping now.

The Lost Art of Reading Orders (feature request)

Because you need to click on a link to see the orders, I feel like players on this and other sites are not paying as close attention to the orders being issued. I know they're being shown graphically, but that can be ambiguous or hard to notice; reading the orders makes you notice things you might not have, like why something is failing or what another country is trying to do, or tell you (for gunboat games).

I'd suggest placing the latest set of orders just below the map.

A discussion of the merits and balance of the various two player scenarios...

Also, an offer to try any of them so long as they are unrated. I don't mind a loss and consider it a challenge to hang in as long as possible in the somewhat unbalanced. Although never again will I play Russia v Germany.
