For now I'm setting this up assuming 9 teams of 3 each. So we need 1 more from Europe and 1 more from the Northeast States and then we can begin.
As for exact structure. The tournament will be separated into a group phase and then the finals. The top teams of each group will progress to the finals.
The maps are based on the number of players in each group. In each case we would play (phase length of the game):
1 anon game with everyone it (36 hrs/phase)
1 team games, where each team has two players (36 hrs/phase)
1 gunboat team game, where each team has two players (24 hrs/phase)
1 regular game with 1 player from each team (36 hrs/phase)
1 gunboat game with 1 player from each team (24 hrs/phase)
A few 1v1 games depending on how large the group is. (24 hrs/phase)
In each case we are playing the most balanced non-symmetrical variant. For the gunboat and anon games, it is cheating to contact your teammates to assist in game play. This is metagaming and should it be determined that a team was metagming, the will be kicked from the tournament and the account(s) in question will be punished according to site rules.
Scoring:
In case of solo:
Large maps (11+ players): 7
Standard maps (6 or 10 players): 5
Small maps (3-5 players): 3
Duel maps (2 players): 2
In case of draw:
Regardless of the map, each surviving player gets 1 point. If all surviving players are on the same team, it is treated as a solo.
In case of team games:
Instead of the standard 50%+1 required to solo, team games will require a 67%+1. The first team to pass over the limit wins.
For example, if there are 3 teams a group, with 3 players on each:
1 Indian of the Great Lakes
2 Greek Diplomacy
2 Treaty of Verdun
4 FvA
In this case each player will play between 3 and 5 games. Considering half the games are 2 or 3 player, it shouldn't be too taxing on the people participating in the tournament.
Scoring:
In the case of a solo:
Great Lakes gives 5
Greek gives 5
Verdun gives 3
FvA gives 2
