Any reason the entirety of GB (rest of Scotland) and Northern Ireland weren't included as the playing area?

I have one in my head, but we never bothered with one, we were just focusing on the balance and basics
Here's my unofficial explanation:
In the bleak dystopian future of the year 2000, when Margret Thatcher never stepped down from government, continuing to oppress the working class and keeping the punk movement alive. Eventually, the country, crippled by austerity and overbearing taxes, descended into anarchy. nobody quite knows how it happened but when the dust settled, the country had split into different areas, with Scotland gaining Independence and sealing their borders, and these city states and areas manage to start enforcing their own laws and pacifying the surrounding regions. There's still a lot of anarchy out there though, and other factions to be dealt with. Are you a bad enough dude to re-unite whats left of England?
This is my explanation of events, at the very least, as for david, who knows, we were far more busy removing bugs and trying to boost Bristol to discuss back story all that much

@LoveDove, Scotland was initialy something we looked at including, but balancing it wasn't easy. There was no real mersyside E-A combination to take on Scotland, it would be a faction with one enemy if we stuck to the scale we were at. While we could have tried a two faction scotland, it would have increased the player count, which we were looking to keep as close to the 5-6 mark as we could. Northern ireland needed scotland to work, and looked weird just floating there, detached from everywhere else. It would also be a nightmare to deal with on a map where there is more of a emphasis on land combat than naval combat

And the landbridge seems to be in an awkward place there, I might recommend moving it a bit west. Haven't played it yet, but thanks for developing it and it looks great!

Maybe in Anarchy blasted Britain, all the pedants were strung up, and they renamed the eyeland...

I feel London is rather unbalanced. It only has one gaurantee and starts with three supply centers. All other neutrals it can go for can easily be blocked by its neighbors.

1v1 against either Bristol or E-A they generally can hold their own. They also have a guaranteed take of Isle of Wight in the second turn.

3 south centers, red yellow green, colour shade indistinguishable from move and support on both maps.
