Dear Ruffhaus,
I’m not losing sleep over it too, I just consider your analysis of the game so factious that I can’t stand to reply.
So, given that we’re talking about a finished game (which everyone can check) and not about opinions let’s re-try to have a look of what’s happened. That’s my EoG post, focusing around me, Rome. When I say “you” I’m referring to my primary interlocutor and accuser of incompetence , Ruffhaus, aka Naples.
-1901 to 1903:
That’s actually chaos. Someone can manage to get extra SCs. Rome can thanks to Naples/Tunis non-bounce. Spain can, thanks to Marseilles’ suicidal move in fall’03. It’s amazing that you have completely neglected this particular. Spain got his most important gain in a chaos game (IMO the second SC) because of Marseilles. Probably you shouldn’t be here mocking me gratuitously without Marseille’s fall’03 move.
-1903 winter builds:
If you haven’t noticed, Venice spent his last 2 years trying to communicate that he wanted to cooperate with me. I decided to trust him and I built a fleet. I was pretty sure, in the instance that I built the second army, that Naples should’ve gone for his home center. Do you want to convince me that you should’ve gone for Spain or Greece? At that moment Spain was far from being a threat.
-1904
Spain killed Portugal and got the south-western corner 3SCs, putting a good base for a solo. Considering the neighborhood, a better position than Budapest’s (currently the other 3 SC power).
-1905 spring
You are claiming that you saw the solo way beforehand… interesting. Inviting my fleet in Naples to move in Apulia in spring must have been a clear signal of your intention to stop the possible solo coming from the west, sorry if I didn’t get it :-) Ruffhaus, please, do not abuse my resistance to remain polite.
-1905 fall
Another invitation from your side to work together and build a water defensive line. I didn’t understand this one too… Yes, I must definitely be a chowderhead.
-1906
My fault with ION. This time I’m serious. My apologies to the Bulgarian fleet in Greece if he wanted to stay in the Ionian and hold the non-existing but likely to come aggression from the west. Now that the game is over I’d like Jimbozig to confirm if that was his intention in spring’06.
-1907
The ONLY way to make a *temporary* stand in the western part of the Mediterranean should’ve been with your fleet sitting in Tunis, and mine in Tyrrenian sea. I assume you were aware of this, cause you’re clearly not an idiot. You moved in Tunis only when you were forced to: 1 year later. Time over. Have a look to my fall’07 move. I wonder which way you wanted to reach the western Mediterranean, instead.
-1908 to the end.
Too late for the fleet in Smyrna to come. The Bulgarian fleet was disbanded 2 years beforehand. The situation is hopeless in the Mediterranean and in all the other fronts.
Honestly I can’t notice 1 single couple of nations trying to build something similar to a defensive line. Despite the WTA setting, some factions attacked each other until the very last year, and someone else simply gave up and stopped entering orders.
Yours sincerely
Decima Legio, one of the Ruffhaus-appointed cheaf enablers of Spain’s solo.
