Hi everyone, I'm new to this site and mainly came here because of variants.
I was especially interested in the Chaos one - where every supply centre has a country - and the World Diplomacy one, and that got me thinking - how about mixing the two together?
Yes, at first it sounds stupid - you would need over eighty people, for one - but delve into it further, and it's not such a bad idea.
If you put on a FOW further than two spaces away from your units, then it would become like a tribal warfare to start; small civilizations, civil wars and not much information about lands far away. It would then develop into a 'civilization stage' - countries would form in certain areas as 'tribes' conquered more supply centers; then you would have wars around continents.
Lastly, when countries grew big enough, an 'empire stage' would come. This would be much like normal World Diplomacy.
Of course, the stages aren't defined - they are just guidelines as to what I think would happen.
Also, lack of communication would make the game interesting - countries could only communicate with others who they have 'discovered' (in other words, seen one of their supply centers or units).
It would make an incredibly interesting, if slightly long-winded, game mode. The biggest drawback I can see is that you need so many people.
