Anywhere to download Classic map files?
I've looked around a bit and I can't find anywhere where I can download the original diplomacy map files and borders for creating a variant based off the classic map. I'm thinking of creating a variant and if I could get these it would save a ton of work.

Yeah, although I still believe that 16 or 17 to win would be better because 19 just forces the losing player to quit fighting last year, Devo put out a very good point about the essence of Duo. You need to be the most powerful to win a Duo. So Duo is a different kind of race. I'm not saying it's a better or funnier race, just different. Then your strategies and tactics must be slighly different in comparison to a "european map" 1v1 game. This is good.

For what has been said until now, I've changed a bit my opinion on how a "perfect" 1v1 Match should be. This is the situation updated:
1) No GvR. Really too unbalanced. Useless waste of time. - Discarded.
2) fasces could be right saying that FGvRT is more unbalanced than we believe. Maybe too much. (Unfortunately I've never played it...I'd need a test before I can say anything. Anyone up? I'd like to be Jugg.) - Under trial.
3) GvI surely useful to detect good skills' differences. - Included.
4) FvA surely useful to detect light skills' differences. - Included.
5) Duo surely useful to detect any skills' difference. Further, the different strategies it involves make the Match more complete. Further, it's a perfect tiebreaker in case all the other sets ended 2-2. - Included.

Fine Guaroz I'll set up the games now.

@ Gobble.

19 is definitely more than is necessary, but because players do not have to worry about losing the game at 15 or 16, they can play it out the best way, rather than turn it into a race to 15, or 16. I guess 17 or 18 SC's might work too, but what's the point? There is no reason a player cannot admit defeat and forfeit the game to end it quicker.

So do I:)

Not sure I can, but it was worth a shot. He's a bit more strategic than me, whereas I take some unnecessary risks in an attempt at sheer chaos. =)

Me to :)

However as a huge fan of guerrilla warfare, he consider it to be more of complex strategies then chaos :p
