I was confederacy, and he had a guarantee of forcing me to retreat out of Richmond, and he attacked, but he accidently did support hold on Richmond instead of support move to Richmond, so therefore not only did I keep Richmond, but I also took Ohio from him... he is kinda like, stuck in New England while I have access to everything else...

sorry butter but that does not matter! its a turney and you cannot just cancel and redo a game as you like... ;) I want you to have the points you got by his mistakes... ;)

He already switched the countries, so obviously it is ok... Plus Rox, I could have won the game easy... but I am a gracious person and allowed the restart because I'd much rather have fun kicking some canaduh ass than win it off of a small screw up like a support hold...
lol, but no, we restarted, and hopefully he won't screw up this time, and if he does, he is SOL...
and also, think of that game as a sort of... scrimmage, before the tourney...

I don't really see whats wrong with cancelling if both parties agree and its early on.

Well that depends... does barcelona want to get all the credit if they manage to win by like, one goal, or do they want to win by that goal and everyone say, you only won because Manchesters goalkeeper screwed up??? ;)

Rox you had some good point. In theory, games should be played till the end even if someone make some incredible mistake. Mistakes are part of the game.

But, to be practical, if you're worried about cheating (that means: if you're worried that someone could gift the win to another player) then you can do nothing about it. They're 1v1 games...anyone could give the win to his opponent and you wouldn't even notice it. So please stop worrying.

Personally I liked more the first decision ("It was up to Butterhead and Canada, butterhead had the choice as to whether or not restart the game, and choose to.") which implies that the 2 players are the judges of their own match. (Why not? if someone wants to cheat, he will. Without posting it in the Forum)

The second decision (half points), although a bit bizarre, is still acceptable, IMHO.

I think ultimately fasces's decision is the one that goes, because he's the governing body of the tournament. Kind of like how the NCAA makes the final call regarding the legitimacy of a game.

That said, if I may supply my own opinion, I think that counting each as a half-game and thus giving legitimacy to the practice of creating any number of games is a bad precedent. If the half-game rule has an addendum stating that such a practice isn't allowed to occur again -- that is, don't allow cancellations/etc. without fasces's permission -- then it should be okay. But I'm with RoxArt here, the officially scheduled games need to be listed as they start (and after any flip-flops due to incorrect country assignment and the like) and played and counted instead of just making a new one because someone misordered.

I respect and appreciate butterhead's classiness in setting up a new game, but it really does cause tournament issues.

Starting a new game I find acceptable. I don't really like this half points, it gives them two shots at getting what might possibly be the 0.5 that takes them through...

Canaduh, seems we have sparked a debate here... well, I will talk to Canaduh then... I'd rather just play 2 games for full value than 3 and have 2 games as half points...

Butterhead and Canaduh can sort this out by themselves...

We have sorted it. I appreciate the debate. What I really appreciate is the fact that butterhead is a sportsman, and in it for the intellectual challenge.
