You can send messages to yourself ingame. Pretty cool. Could be used for notes and stuff I guess. I was bored yesterday and explored in the URL found out you could.

New armies?
I may just be seeing things, but do the armies in the small map of games look... shinier?

mongoose998 (1344 D)
06 Jan 12 UTC
no? If you look at the small map, then the big map, I sware one is shinier than the other. the fleets are the same though
ezpickins (1665 D)

agreed with Mongoose
They look the same to me.

What a way to advertise recreational drug use.

yes! I have one on my side! its not in all games tho, so u can all compare!
These are regular: http://vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=2855#gamePanel
but if we look here: http://vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=5030#gamePanel
one could easily see the heavier shading in the bottom left, as well as the more distinguished outline on the new (build anywhere) units
gjdip (1503 D)
06 Jan 12 UTC
Wow! Seems like I'm on drugs, too. They all look the same on the large map, though.
Yeah it does look different. Maybe the color was changed a bit in the coding.

Look at this game http://www.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=4091#gamePanel. The current turn (A1910) shows the old armies, the previous turn (S1910) shows the "shiny" armies and all the previous turns are the old ones.

Also this one http://www.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=4345#gamePanel.
A2001, A2000, A1995, S1995 and A1994 are "shiny" others turns are old.

And this one http://www.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=4930#gamePanel.
A1872 and A1871 are shiny.

No they arent diffenrent.
Make two tabs with both maps and compare them.

One example wud have been good enough but anyways I was rite!
BenGuin (1529 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
God, correct me if I'm wrong,
but Mongoose is trying the say that after every build phase, the units that have just been built will always be "shinier" than the older ones that've been there before... it's not the difference between the armies in the big map and the small map... in fact I believe that this phenomenon only happens in the small map!
butterhead (1272 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
I still don't see it, but trying to hurt my eyes... thanks mongoose, now i have a headache...
mongoose998 (1344 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
Maybe if u wud believe that they are different, u will see them! JUST BELIEVE!
I am 100% sure tht it only occurs in the small map.
butterhead (1272 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
I tried, but I saw nothing...
mongoose998 (1344 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
OK, I take back what I said about one example being sufficient. I can now conclude that when the board displays autumn moves, we have shiny units. Spring moves show old units!
butter, look at the game and compare the 2 types of armies throughout the game

mongoose998 (1344 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
yes. that is what I just said!
Venetia (1587 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
Exactly, my post was to confirm it, now I'll start the quest of the new armies in all my games!

Damn colorblindness! I never get to see cool things like shiny tanks....
mongoose998 (1344 D)
07 Jan 12 UTC
now my question is why do they only occur when showing Autumn moves/retreats/builds?
butterhead (1272 D)

conspiracy theory...
ShootingStar (1238 D)
08 Jan 12 UTC
It's not always in the Autumn turn, although it seems its more common. In the examples I gave above there are 2 Spring turns. It looks like it is something to do with the colours. The normal armies have proper shading on them. The 'shiny' armies look like they are only 2 colours - black and a light green. It have only seen it on the small map.
adammaa (1323 D)

I have had this happen, and has only happened on 1 my games. Really weird.

Venetia (1587 D)
08 Jan 12 UTC
gameID=5049 New appearence. And it's spring, that's weird!
mongoose998 (1344 D)
08 Jan 12 UTC
not weird. We have concluded it only shows new armies when displaying the previous falls turn, it would only do that when expecting Spring orders
