Welcome to the site! I think you will like this site a lot more than facebook(trust me, I played there, and unless they made a LOT of improvements in the past 8-9 months, this is way better)... It's nice to have you on board the vdip community...

no, they once tried to implement a newer version of the software, but this did not work, so they returned to the old one ... quite "archaic" over there compared to this.
so i left for webdiplomacy.net, where i usually played for the last 12 months and still play and which is quite okay - except that there are only three variants to play ... :)

agreed, I was there for the attempt at the new variant, but when it got to the point that there was a war between this guy Eric and the mods(in which I at first sited with the mods until the little Tournament they held that they all ganged up together, which I then switched to the other side), I determined it was necessary for me to leave the site, so I left. and I played on Webdip, but wasn't a fan of the community or the lack of variants, so I came here, which I love!

How about playing joust for fun a gunboat choose your country and the players will be inhabitans of this country ?
Id be germany, buzzevily is russiand, Venetia could play Italy and hirny is austrian. Now we need a frenchman, a guy from the UK, a Turk (which will be the hardest to find, maybe we could say just someone from the arab states)

We could play this classic map with the usa...and i think here is no player from Turkey or a state of the arab world at all so maybe you could just play Turkey... :))

my nickname does have a meaning (could translate into "brain saw"), but i just tend to chose them randomly based on song titles of german punk/avantgarde band "Einstürzende Neubauten". on webdip, i had chosen "HalberMensch", another song of them.
it's just easy to chose this way, and little hint to some players that i speak german, nothing more, so "hirny" is just fine :)

a gunboat, based on home countries sounds interesting – but i can't yet join another game as a newbie ...
