It's going to be moderately balanced with Russia, Germany, and Italy holding mostly armies and having several extra centers which they can't build in. England, Vichy France will each have a few centers near the neutrals. USA and Australia will be added similar to how USA is in the USA variant. Then Spain and Turkey will be neutral nations with units that hold.

I'm just happy to see WW2 variants out there, although I would like to see a WW2 world map at some point ;)

You do all realize that Zeus 5 is a WWII map...?

I'm not saying that I have a better idea for territory placement, but Poland is amazingly powerful. They look as vulnerable as Austria, but are as dangerous as Russia is.

I have not seen Poland in a vulnerable position. I hope it turns out they are vulnerable to some extent

I think the strength of Poland in the Modern variant, is the strength at which Poland perhaps should be in the 1939 variant?

I think the idea is that Russia and Germany are supposed to team up on Poland. I disagree that Poland should be a major power, but I guess it's not up to me.

Poland stops the Balkans being too open. If Poland was also open,. there'd be a great big land of neutrals from Stettin in the Baltic to Trieste in the Adriatic.

what if you rearranged the East to have a Poland that had armies that just held like Yugoslavia and made Yugoslavia playable? Yugoslavia would be a nice equivalent to Austria

Or you could have a power that resembles the resistance to Germany spread across several separate nations.

What if you have a land in which most communication between states is very difficult. Say, something like Ancient Greece. So the only territory names you know are names of major cities (SC's). So then you can move around to the territories near you, but not know which direction you are going because you only know what the cities are, not where the cities are.
So basically, to have all of the basic territories remain nameless so that when you move, you have no idea where you're moving...

maybe we should set up a "To Do List" thread or an ideas thread for any variant ideas people come up with
