A game where I am allowed to Meta-Game? O.o
Competition between you and your friends sure is fun, but sometimes its great to team up with them and conquer the world together. Well, if your looking for a game where you can do that then look no further. Sometime next week a game will be starting where you and one friend can team up to conquer the world. It will be a WWIV variant with two day phases. All that is required is that you message the creator, me, what country you are teaming up with.

Team Game Replacement Players
http://www.vdiplomacy.com/board.php?gameID=8536
Replacement player for the UK and Amazon needed. If someone will be nice enough, the UK isn't in a bad position. This is a team game, and you'd have to respect that, I guess.

Also is there already a thread advertising countries in civil disorder needing to be replaced? If not, should there be a forum thread just for advertising inactive countries?

Creating Teams into variant maps
Until now every Variant maps considers each player independent and able to fight any other automatically.
But could be interesting to develop a way to create forced alliance teams, just like a country split into groups unable to fight each others (being the same nation...) but able to be controlled by different players?
Into the game they could then choose if cohoperating or acting separately, but never being able to steal SCs each others nor dislodging armies and so on...

Great majority of the people here are friendly and in love with the game of diplomacy. I am not sure what happened to you to make you want to leave, but if that is the case The Czech was right. Account can not be deleted, you can just change password to some random number, save it and go for ever away from this place.

My advice would be to do just the opposite, this is great place to play diplomacy and if you give it another shot you will not be sorry for it.

I am not sure about the mod policy on deleting accounts, so you are welcome to wait for an official descision by Oli, but I agree with dejen and czech, said.

For the most part this is a great civil site and it will be ashame to see a player leave after just 2 games because of some unknown incident. I woulf be interested to know what forced you to reach this descision

Lord Ravager (988 D)
10 Jul 12 UTC
@Rancher, I had no probs with you surely.

@fasces, The worst problem is simply I can't reach any ways to learn to create variant maps (too scattered infos for an absolute beginning creator, and so on), which was my true goal, and felt mocked by someones who clearly dealt with me like I was someone they know already and are hostile to.
I told many time I am who I am, a newcomer with medium game experience and 0 in creating maps, and I'm not what someone pretends I should be!

If you wait about 3 hours I would be happy to link you to the threads that tell you how to create variants.(Can't do it now because I am talking from my smartohone)

Other then thsat all I can say is on behalf of the mod team I appologize for anything particular players said to you. Thw views of the players do not reflect the views of the site and it is sad when fellow good civil diplomats quit because of the actions of the minority.

I want to remind people that thos is a free not for profit site whose only goal is to create an online community where it is possible to play multiple variants. Acess is free and we employ no methods of fundraising, so don't epect perfect service.
Lord Ravager (988 D)
10 Jul 12 UTC
Fasces, I thank you for your words!

I'm surely being able to be back in 3 hours to learn all I can to create Variants and then offer them to the site as a free share; don't worry I never pretend anything except normal friendly attitude LOL Just being mocked about my creative work while blocked during its developement has been so crippling for my mood, that's maybe the point; I hope it can be only the past
G-Man (2466 D)
10 Jul 12 UTC
I echo what others have said Lord Ravager, most of the players here are really cool, polite, and fun to play with. In fact, I don't believe there is a better site out there to play Diplomacy at, at least I never found one. The variant selection here is tops and it grows by the week and the competition is fierce.

Having begun my own map (Classical Greece), I recommend sketching it out first and then adjusting supply centers and territories as you check each power's opening against each of its neighbors. Then, when you feel the map is void of obvious errors and playable, follow the threads that Fasces is about to hook you up with to creating the online version of the variant. Good luck and I hope to play your variant one day.

The Moran (1421 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
http://forum.webdiplomacy.net/viewtopic.php?f=25&t=432&hilit=Howto I'm looking at this one to make my new map, it seems relatively simple, so long as you're not messing with game mechanics. I'm sorry to hear you dont feel welcomed though :(
Lord Ravager (988 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
Thanks to all the kind people helping me now, I feel relieved after that bad moment... i'm sorry that could have happened, but the final thought about eliminating my account was the only solution when I saw all black!

About Map Creation, now I'm studying all the links... It's still hard to me to find the beginning poit to start from! LOL
But I have yet ready the two maps: Large and Small, in PNG format, one with abbreviated province names (3 letters each) and the larger with full names; the map structure is already structured exagonally to be perfectly fairly balanced for all 6 players; I need only to program something I don't know yet LOL

@Butterhead, :) basically, it's a quick game map to be more funny than serious; but its great interesting point, as I planned to have, is the idea it can attract the so rare women player into wargames! :D just cause it is a map where Females and Males would be able to fight in 2 groups of same gender against the opposite (each group considered the same army for attacks conquests and so on) but split into 3 countries each to add confusion and let more players to join; basically is however like 1 Power against 1 Power (Femdomia vs Maledomia).
I've already written tons of "roleplay adds" to the game, that are not actually needed in game mechanics but adds fun (like the adult humoured names of provinces...)
amisond (1280 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
The difficulty with your idea is going to be programming the team aspect of the game.
Lord Ravager (988 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
@amisond yes I don't imagine yet how to obtain the teams... meanwhile the game could be played by a All-against-all classical style, but how to make the 3 players of each group not to fight each other? hmm... difficult
amisond (1280 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
Post it on the Forum. I am sure someone with more programming knowledge than me would be much more help.
fasces349 (1007 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
The pirates map has a team like aspect, where privateers can not take supply centers from certain countries. You could probably ask Amby how to code that, but it is probably really confusing...
Lord Ravager (988 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
Good to know! :)
Lord Ravager (988 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
@ ODaly, I remind that "bad time" joke which surely wasn't the max, but the problem was precedent: someone who has not yet posted into this thread had written to me many things with also alarming words which had let me think he sees me as maybe a "well know bad guy" and so on :( I don't tell his nick cause I wish only to forget this bad time, but of course he reached with some friends of him to let me believe the group was slamming doors into my face, as with a "well known public enemy" :(
amisond (1280 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
Also, I was a little ambiguous earlier. When I said post it on the forum I meant the developers forum ( forum.webdiplomacy.net )
Lord Ravager (988 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
ooops ok Amisond
butterhead (1272 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
@Lord Ravager- it definitely sounds interesting! It will be very difficult to code, but you should definitely keep working on it and see what you can do! I might suggest, if you struggle to much with it, that you try doing a more simple to code one first and then work on that one once you get more knowledge! but definitely do it, and don't leave us here just because of that! stick around, you will grow to love it!
Lord Ravager (988 D)
11 Jul 12 UTC
i'm no more giving up, butterhead :)
kaner406 (2103 D Mod (B))
11 Jul 12 UTC
step 1. post an image of your variant idea. We need visuals to see accurately what you are talking about, many variant ideas fall by the wayside due to there being no map from which to work from

step 2. get involved in some of the variants that are already made - particularly ones that involve rule changes that you plan on having implemented. This also makes you more active in the community as players get to know you better, and gives you a better feel for the various type of map layout.

step 3. first things first. Don't worry about programming at such an early stage. Sure some ideas are overwhelmingly complex and will never (not for a long time anyway) be implemented. But many other ideas are already out there. You shouldn't try to 'do it all at once', the dev-forum will assist you as you go along.
Lord Ravager (988 D)
12 Jul 12 UTC
@kaner, hmmm where exactly to post the image? :) I've got the Small Map ready with 3 letter code names, while the Large Map with long full names is ready to see but still to be corrected estetically as I discovered today from a tutorial (finally starting from beginning LOL)
And yes I took example from some other Variants: like adding "Build Anywhere" option and especially the Pirates Team will be important in the future to build the 2 big Teams of 3 players each I'm planning
The idea the map can be a work-in-progress instead a "immediately ready" file relieves me... :) I thought worse, I have to see
butterhead (1272 D)
12 Jul 12 UTC
@Lord Ravager- the dev forum, same place that they told you earlier to post your idea :) post it there so everyone can see it.
Lord Ravager (988 D)
12 Jul 12 UTC
Ok... now I'm done it's 3:41 am here, but tomorrow i'll subscribe to the new forum and post the maps ... good night to all! :)
