I didn't realise that carried over :P

it use to be called Olidip until December of 2010 when the server went down. After the sight crash became permanent, for whatever reason, Oli transfered all the usernames over to his new sight, vdip, which premièred on December 24th, 2010.

webdip used to be called PHP diplomacy, not sure when or why the switch happened or when since I wasn't on that sight yet.

I did play on PHP diplomacy, but I forget my username for that one and when I created my account on Webdip I didn't know my username from PHP still worked. So I'm technically a multi on webdip, even if one of those accounts hasn't been logged on in like 5 years. lol

Yeah Amby, getting started games with more than 10 players was very hard!
BTW, Pity that only usernames have been transferred to VDip. My stats were much better on Olidip! :P

Ah I remember goon dip. There were only a handful of variants at that time compared to the vast library we have now. Could have never played a 34 player game back then. Nor did we have features like extend, pause, reliability rankings, stats, etc. Nice to see how far this site has come along.

I thought that goondip existed simultaneously with olidip, not as a predecessor to it. Don't know who ran the site though.

Oh Goondip! It was a site revived on the ruins of a previous version. At the top of your homepage, a big message said:

***This site is provided "AS IT IS". Bugs and errors will NOT be fixed.***

or something like that. Lol. Yeah, the guy who ran it probably wasn't a guru of IT. :)
When it finally crashed completely, we all moved to OliDip.

Goondip hosted most of the variants I made and added some nice features. The RR we had here was based on the goondip code (and quite a lot of the early improvements here are directely taken from the goondip code).
Once kestas implemented "official" variant-support in the webdip-code it was too much work to merge this code with the goondip code. Also the goondip-site crashed quite frequently (Maybe becasue of the instant-messaging they had there).
The creator of goondip was attacked quite personally from some members, so he resigned and didn't update the site anymore.
That was as I started to make my own fork of the webdip code and ported all variants the the new webdip-code...

This is why Oli is a shoo-in to be enshrined in the Diplomacy Hall of Fame.
