Yes Normandy always attacks in gunboat, the point of via Baltic if he wants to get into Free Passage Cities before Normandy and secure that end, plus its better to move to Shetland and Orkneys in the fall of 1065 even though it is riskier, in the long run it gives you a faster way to take all of Scotland, basically im thinking the an English Eastern is a counter to a Nordic Northern, plus I made a bad guess that the Norwegian fleet would sack York as I moved towards Trondheim, the English Eastern works best if you get 2 builds in the second year, one for a fleet in York and another to build a fleet in Winchester

Alright, at this point, two crazy ideas.

1) As England, it might be best to ignore GLD and keep in defense of York. In our game, England never got a single build.

2) As Norway, it might be best to ignore York and focus elsewhere so that Normandy doesn't get served a big English cupcake.

2) Norway won the test me Gobbledydook and Shep did when he ignored England. Surprisingly England came in second.

It's an idea from the classic map. Just because Austria shows you Trieste as Italy, it's not always a good idea to take it. In fact it often is not. York strikes me as just provoking extra conflict that doesn't need to happen for the sake of one SC, plus forcing the English to recommit North giving Normandy a lot of prime room.

Plus I always think its best to take Scotland first as Norway because then you have a ready made base for the invasion of England, its a lot easier to build in Glasgow or Edinburgh then it is to convoy from Norway

that was a game dominated by Norway because of 2 key mistakes I made in turn 1 and turn 4. I think I might have been able to destroy Normandy faster if I had done it correctly.
